More Halloween Weirdness or -- Woozy At The Sight Of Blood?

Are you one of those people who faints at the sight of blood? About 5 percent of all Americans do this. That's 16 million people. This has to do with the fight or flight response and with the vagus nerve. This nerve runs from the brain through the face and thorax to the abdomen. Seeing blood, for some people, triggers what is called a vasovagal syncope. This is where your blood pressure drops as heart rate slows and blood pools in the legs. Decreased blood flow causes the person to faint. This condition could be genetic or be a physical defect in the tone of the vagus nerve.

Never afraid of blood for I know blood is life for me. I sometimes have Blood Transfusion every now and then.

It's never bothered me to look at blood. but I don't get into really gratuitously gory movies for example. I like the kind of "scary" that's suspenseful rather than bloody. I have a feeling that if I saw a loved one bleeding profusely, that would make me queasy, but the Halloween stuff doesn't get to me.

I'd rather watch a good suspense thriller instead of a slasher any day.

I've never fainted at the sight of blood, but it would make me woozy when I was younger, especially if I connected it to myself.

Yes, I have this problem, I cannot look at blood, I feel sick even if I see "fake blood". I could never eat one of those Halloween cakes with fake blood.

I have seen plenty of blood in my time I can tell you both in emergency situations and controlled situations and I can share with you the fact that I have seen more men faint than ladies do!

Blood doesn't bother me; but I don't like needles. I can't watch myself getting a shot.
