This is an interesting movie (1996) about a gay couple who has a son that wants to get married to the daughter of a conservative senator. The couple has a sort of cabaret and the whole movie is about how the people try to prepare for the coming of this senator who is not aware of where he is going.
This movie is really a remake of a French movie (La cage aux folles - 1978). In is a comedy, but the plot is important as not many movies of that time showed that plot.
The actors are very good (Gene Hackman, Robin Williams among others)

I saw both and I think that although this remake was good, the French version was much better. To begin with, we did not know the ending.
