I have eaten snails only once in my life and they were canned snails. I did not find them so good. Then we had good abalone in my country and they were much better.
Later on, an owner of a plant nursery told me that several people came to her nursery to get (free) the snails that were around and they ate them.
I knew that before you ate snails, you had to place them for a few days where they would eat plant that would sort of clean their intestines so that they weren´t bitter.
I am wondering now, while I watch this show (Arthur Zimmermann) if I could use some snails and find yet another fountain of proteins.
Would you eat snails? Have you eaten them?

The only thing, I suppose is to clean them. It seems that they are left in a special saw dust with special herbs for some days.

@marguicha You are correct, they are left without food in saw dust for a few days, no herbs, if they eat they are bitter.

Snails' mucus is high in vitamins and provides moisture to the skin

I had one snail from a jar. That was enough for me.

there is a dish from our parent's hometown which is snails in coconut milk. they are small and triangular shaped and they cut off the tip so you can suck on them or use a toothpick.

I ate snails (escargots) in France. They have to be left without food for a few days, 3 to 5 days, if not they are not good to eat, they are bitter. My grandmother prepared them all the time, but I never ate those she prepared. I liked the taste of those I ate in France, but it took forever to digest. I prefer any kind of fish or chicken for protein.
