Double Dipping (Part 1)

Anyone who wants to know why I’m a very happy credit union member instead of a “bank customer” need only look at what happened today. Last month I sent a little donation to an organization. I noticed that the check hadn’t cleared the bank, so I called. Sure enough, they hadn’t received it. (I mentioned this in a discussion about how the post office clerk laughed at the notion of trying to find the lost check.) To be safe, I went to the credit union and stopped payment on the check. Simple process. I paid the $12 (as opposed to bank fees as much as $40) from my savings account to stop the check payment, then went on my merry way. I checked my account yesterday for the other half of this double dipping tale, and I noticed that the credit union had taken another stop payment fee out of my account, this time out of checking. To make a short story long (seriously, it’s taken longer to type this than the reparation did!), the clerk at the credit union called who she needed to call, and the extra $12 fee was put back in my savings account. If I’d been a bank customer I’d probably still be there, an hour after I showed up, filling out forms. And there’d probably had been a fee to recover my fee! Instead, I have my twelve bucks back, and I’m in Chuy’s having lunch and listening to Slade on the piped-in music. Life is good. Here’s the Slade song that was playing:
Slade - Run Runaway (Original Promo) (1984) (HD) Noddy Holder himself once stated that next to "Far Far Away" that "Run Runaway" is one of his all time favou...

We don't have any problems with our bank and don't pay any monthly fees. I'm glad your credit union account works for you.

I have had the same Credit Union account since 1995. Maybe I am missing something but I don't understand why anyone has a bank account anymore. I always here about banks and the fees for just about everything. I haven't had a fee for anything since being with this credit union and they actually reimburse me for any ATM fees up to 10 times in a month. Forget paying fees for using a bank.

@FourWalls Oh yea that is true, I got in mine when I worked for a company way back then and have since left that job but never left the CU. Oh yea, I have never had to deal with that but I'm sure it was a pain to get the money.

It's always a bonus when some glitch gets fixed relatively quickly.
