Do you talk on the phone when you're on the throne?

When I'm on "the throne," I often read Stereophile articles or Calvin and Hobbes cartoons from a big collection I have. But this morning, duty called as I was having a conversation with my lawyer friend about serving a petition to a probate court around the fella who died owing me about $3500. I tried to be slick about my secret background task (no pun intended), and didn't flush until the conversation had ended. I don't know if she noticed, but I do know that this isn't the first time I conducted "business" from my throne. Do you ever talk on the phone while on the throne? It is said that former American President Lyndon B. Johnson often conducted business while taking care of business, but I'm not sure if this is true.

NO, I consider that disrepectful. I always feel kinda grossed out and insulted if someone calls me from there. I do not even bring the phone in the bathroom.

@TheHorse No matter how much I would like to talk to someone I would say, I call you later, but never my phone with me when I go to the bathroom.

I wouldn't grossed out, but I think I'd be insulted too. Unless it was a really close friend or Ms Horse and we were already involved in a good conversation that we didn't want to abandon.

Sure do...funny when you're expecting an important call or waiting on the "your call is very important to us and our representative will be with you shortly" calls, but I never mention where I am.... I never flush either till I hang up too.

I see that many of us share the same "etiquette" when talking on the phone while taking care of other business.

@thehorse I find it somewhat unsettling when I hear someone I’m talking to on the phone straining to pass a reluctant motion. Bathroom noises are very distinctive, but when it's a cold call trying to sell me something I don’t want, I take the phone to the throne room, hold it close to the potty and deafen the caller with a resounding flush.

It brings me a strange joy. But not if it's someone with whom I will have a future job interview.

@xFiacre That is a strategy I would like to try. In fact, you may have changed my life. I could take the phone in there, speak as if I'm interested in a cruise to Jamaica or easy payment of the student loans I don't have, and hold the phone strategically when an unsavory sound happens to occur.

No, but my roommates in Marines used to leave door open when they went. I would get off work and go to wash my hands and face. I get to our room thinking no one is there yet and our sink is right next to the bathroom in the barracks. It makes sense if you close the door. I would look over and these idiots making the stupidest faces as if to push one out and I am like close the damn door. They thought it was funny, and knew it irritated me so they kept doing it. Its scary thinking no one is there and looking over seeing someone trying to squeeze out a dookie.

@TheHorse Perfect description, we were a bunch of toddlers indeed when we were together. I was never in that way, but sure 100 other ways one of them told me stop being a child. Its offensive when a toddler tells you to stop being a toddler.

Get a bunch of guys together and they can be pretty childish. I admit that I gigggle to myself when I launch an horrific pfarte.

I admit that I just did it to a friend who talks incessantly. After about ten minutes of listening to him, I realized I was "crowning," so I took the phone into the bathroom with me. I'm quite sure he didn't notice.

Not something I've ever done. I have heard others conducting full on conversations and not even being discreet about where they are and what they're doing, if you catch my drift.

Good thing you didn't let it rip. I don't really talk on the phone while I am doing my business. But on occasion I may do that if my mom calls. She will be doing most of the talking anyway, so all I need to do is pretend to listen. And I don't flush until I am done.

@lovebuglena I just adjust my sitting position for a casual pee. But if something explosive happens, I try to keep the phone near my ear. Or not. Buwaahaahaa.

@TheHorse Me too! But peeing while on the phone isn't very nice. Although perhaps it's not much different than turning on a faucet while talking on the phone.
