Football Widow, not me, I am a Hunting Widow!

Many describe this time of year as the time they become a widow to football season. My husband does not watch sports so I don't suffer that malady. However, I do become a Hunting Widow. This starts on October 1st when bear season begins and doesn't end until late December when deer season ends. He usually sets his alarm to go off in the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes he gets up and heads out immediately. Other times he will hit snooze a couple of times, then shuts the alarm off and sleeps a little more. Little Miss and I often have the entire weekend to ourselves. Dinner is just with the 2 of us. Hubby warms his up when he gets home way after dark. Before the time change he would wander back home at about 7:30-8. Now he may actually get home in time for dinner. It will be nice to have him at the table with us. Because he has a license to hunt in two states, he has many tags to fill. He has yet to fill one. Hoping it happens soon. Would love to have fresh venison in the freezer. Until then, I will use what we have in the freezer for meals.

She is usually good company. Today she is challenging. No nap and really needed one too.

I am a football widow and used to be a hunting widow back when we were younger. My husband hunted small game, although I never ate any of it, he enjoyed it so much.

They do spend some quality time together before she goes to bed. But, I would like to have some "me" time too. The freezer still has meat in it and I have been using it up. Would love some fresh though. He said he was close to getting one yesterday, but it was further away and the arrow would have missed. Dang.

Rifle season starts soon. Not that he isn't good with a bow, but he said that it increases the odds of getting one that is out of range of an arrow.

I'm a football widow, a basketball widow, then a hunting widow. It's a never-ending circle of being alone. Jay is very happy in his marriage!

Hubby enjoys hunting. I don't hold him back. When he gets a deer it saves us money at the supermarket.

I grew up around a lot of hunters, so I understand. I enjoy college football games.

My first husband was a hunter as well. Tried to get me out on a few hunts. I did go with him a couple of times.
