Be One of Us #25 - "A Sort of Homecoming"

It seems as if I started this about seven years ago, and between putting my life back in order and a general lack of MyLot enthusiasm, this countdown of 50 songs with "of" in the title came to a grinding halt. But what can you do? We are halfway, at #25: "A Sort of Homecoming" by U2. "A Sort of Homecoming" serves as the opening track from U2's 1984 album, The Unforgettable Fire (their fourth, and my favorite by them.) Vocalist Bono reportedly wrote the tune inspired by a line from poet Paul Celan: "Poetry is a sort of homecoming." The song was a U2 live staple for years, but was eventually shelved for a lengthy-enough period of time that Bono has been known to forget the lyrics during later performances. Eddie Vedder certainly knows the lyrics, as his band Pearl Jam has often covered the song in concert (sometimes just he and an acoustic guitar,) and Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin claims to know the tune "backward and forward." I've linked to a great live version from back when Bono still remembered the words: way back in the days when he still had a king-hell mullet, and The Edge hadn't started wearing that wool knit cap that he apparently never takes off, probably not even to sleep. Or shower. HA! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

@JudyEv - For me, yes, and I finally realized that I can't work on me if I'm spending most of my time trying to make someone else happy.

Ah, U2 so many great tunes. I was wondering if The Edge wears that wool cap because he is hairless underneath? And if he is not hairless do you think he has spare caps in case he wants to shampoo what hair he has left? Inquiring minds want to know?

What if that's his actual hair, cleverly styled to look like a wool knit cap!

This is one of my favorites by them. Of course, I think it's their best album.
