Red beauty is home...

I miss to post a few things here that I plan to post. So before I forget about this one, let me post it.
If you have read my post about my Sunday, I have talked about something special that I wanted to share. And this post talks about that.
I sold my ten year old car in August as I got a good deal for it. So from that time I was using my husband's car. Anyway he hardly uses it as he uses his comfy office shuttle. My husband has a big car Toyota Innova and it's perfect for long drive with family. It's huge and comfy.
I was not so comfortable driving it in beginning but soon I fell in love with it. It was smooth. So at one point we decided to have only one car in family as I am the person who drives more. Since I take two more girls along with my daughter, they too liked the spacious car.
But then within few weeks of driving it in city, I could feel the knee pain in my left knees. Actually my husband has a manual gear car and to maneuver in city traffic here, your one leg has to be constantly on clutch while other switches between brake and accelerator. And in a slowly moving traffic it takes a toll on your left knee.
So after a month my knee pain made us change our decision and we booked a new car with auto shift gear. We asked them to deliver it on 25 th October as it was Dhanteras that day, the first day of Diwali and an auspicious day to buy cars, properties and jewelry. Since Diwali and other celebrations were cancelled due to death and mourning in family, we had to ask these people to keep it in showroom till we get another auspicious day. And that was Sunday.
So the red beauty is home on Sunday. I love this car.

So that was a special thing that happened this Sunday.
Picture is of me driving the car out of showroom and taking it to temple for blessings from God.

@arunima25 We also sold our two cars and bought a smaller one, the Swiss roads are so narrow.

@LadyDuck So are most of the roads in our city. It is tough to maneuver with a big car especially when you take a turn and there is a vehicle coming from opposite side.

Yes definitely. A lot easier to maneuver and find a parking spot in city.

@avi256 My last car was a second hand i10. It was good but the mileage was not so great. Anyway I needed an automatic gear one because my knees started hurting.

Thank you. I like red color. I think automatic is better and convenient though it's more thrilling to drive manual. But my legs gave up in Indian traffic.

Oh! That might sound crazy and alien to others but it is very common in our culture. We do follow them to buy important things like cars, house etc. We follow auspicious timings for our ceremonies like marriage etc. It might be shocking to other cultures.

I am so happy for you about the car. I had one car in my life I loved and had to sell it before I came to live in Israel. That was very hard. Glad you are very happy with it.

Thanks and glad I do not have a car now. I love my mobility scooter. It is not fun to be in it when it is raining and when it is cold. I am glad you have the car you like.

@Hannihar Yes weather can be troublesome in scooters. I could never learn to ride a scooter.

Thank you. I always wanted a red car and this is my first one with red color. So very happy. Sorry to hear about your car. I felt very bad when I had to sell my car in US when we moved out of the country.

i don't drive but many years ago, before automatic cars, i remember a female officemate was caught in traffic and was on an incline (going up the flyover) and her leg was almost cramping already.

I can fully understand that. We have a few inclines here and I was struggling with my knee pain. Also to keep moving and stopping in a snail paced traffic we have to hold clutch at the same point for so long. It hurts later.

We need such small cars for our congested city traffic and not much parking space here. Yes it will fit in back of your truck. My husband calls it a toy car

@arunima25 I have a small car and I love the fact that it is easy to park, not big and cumbersome like my husband's car.

My husband calls it a toy car. He found it no fun driving. But I am more for convenience than thrill of driving. I drive a lot in city on daily basis.1 person likes this
