All the Memories in Music

As my day has been winding down here and I've been able to kick back with a cup of tea to relax, I decided to put on some Christmas music and a fireplace screen saver on my TV for "mood lighting". As the music played on (instrumentals), memories began swirling all around me. Most were so happy, and a few were a little sad. Some were from my earliest childhood and others not so long ago. It never ceases to amaze me how music can trigger all sorts of memories. If I ever want to spend some time with family members who are no longer with us, all I need to do is listen to some music! I love to see a lit fireplace, it is relaxing. Smells and music are the two things that most trigger the memories.

I think 'sound' triggers more memories than any other sense although certain smells bring back strong memories to me too.

Yes, there are certain smells that bring back a lot of my childhood memories. And since I grew up around a lot of different types of music, I can bring back people from long ago just by listening to those different types of music! It can be a lot of fun!

Christmas music can bring back so much. I love when I'm sitting with my niece and nephews and we have music going and suddenly we're all remembering people from our past and sharing memories.

It is the same with me when it comes to music. When I see a fireplace, it reminds me of the life I had in Ireland with my hubby and our beloved dog Angus.
