There’s So Much More I Wish I Knew

There is so much I know about my family, but so much more I wish I knew. Was Nonna born in Rhode Island like we originally believed, or was she born in Verona, or somewhere else in Italy, or maybe on the ship on the way to America. Sadly I’m not sure if we will ever know the answers! Everyone who knows is now gone, and the family pictures some of them I know, others have names written on them so I can piece those together but many have no names or dates, people and stories lost to time. I am not one to give up easily though, and perhaps someday I’ll be able to piece the stories together...

Ancestry.com is the way to go...just as Carol said. I've tried it and was able to piece together some family history.

@Michellekidwell Your Father was here before they even came over on the Mayflower? Amazing.

I have got only so far with Nonna’s history but was able to trace it back to like the 13th century on my Dads. I found out that my Dad’s family came here from Wales in the sixteenth century that my ancestors fought in every major American war dating back to the Revolutionary War!

Have you thought about doing the Ancestry.com?

I have, I was able to go back to the thirteenth century with my Dads side, but seemed to get road blocked on my Nonna’s side. Grreconis a popular Italian/Greek name, so I may have to try the Greek angle...

Last Sunday evening I told my husband that I was very close to my maternal great grandmother but I didn't even know her husband at all. Nobody has mentioned his name to us except his family name and I had no idea who he really was but I wish I knew.

It is interesting trying to find out about your family. We have went a ways back on my fathers side too but it's my mother side that we have issue with.

I hope that it will be successful. It is good to know that and we also do the same here in my family but my grandma is good when it comes to that more than us in our generation.

@Michellekidwell I know what you are saying. There is so much I did not know about my family. I was looking for family here in Israel and a friend of mine on facebook helped find out about my father and his family and my grandparents and then I lost it and only remembered a little bit.
