Silverware thoughts

Hi MyLot,
I recently purchased a big box that had pots and pans, plates, and a whole lot of mixed silverware in it. The Silverware got me to thinking about , well, silverware or, for those of you purists out there, flatware. (Since none of it is actual true silver - ware., eg. made out of the metal silver) . I wanted the pots and pans (new) - but had to take everything.
Now way back, before I had my own place - my plan was to my used silverwares - and mix and match them. This was not my original idea. It was at a café we stopped at when I was a child. It was charming. None of the plates, dishes , tables, chairs or silverware matched and it was whimsical.
Fast forward to the time when I actually needed to move out and have my own furnishing.
Well I dug around at some thrifts but didn't really find much in the way of silverwares. So, I saw a new set of silverware that I loved at a store. They had round handles and felt cool to hold. They were heavy. And they were expensive. 8 forks, knives, soup spoon, small spoon would have cost me around $200 if memory serves me correct.
Now, I'm quite flattered to say that a lot of people have told me that they think I'm quite wealthy. The truth is I make very little. This isn't a complaint. I have enough to pay my bills, to eat, to have some fun. I'm thankful. But it's merely a fact.
I think it's that I know how to bargain shop.
So, I went to large box retailer. (I don't know if we're allowed to use names).
There was cheap silverware. About 50 cents x piece . Now for those same 8 pieces as mentioned above this would have cost about $32. But they were plain, cheap, lightweight and , well tin-like. The edges were sharp.
But I went to the next selection up in price and found some that were nicer. Heavy. Rounded edges. In fact they almost felt like my fun, quirky and expensive ones I had seen. Not quite as cool, but at something like $48 for 8 piece set instead of $200 were just fine with me.

That is expensive, but, if you liked them then that is different. People like to make up things about someone and they probably have no clue as to who or what they are. These people do not know you. I know lots of people are on budgets. $48 is better than $200. That is great. So did you get those?

Yeah, those middle ones ($48) are what I went with. Just about as nice as the $200 ones. :-)

Thanks! I rather liked my compromise. Oh that's cool, - do you switch out flatware sets as mood strikes? Or are some just for good?

They look so great and shiny! Wasn't there any "offer" or "sales" at this store where you purchased?

They are pretty, this is just a photo found online though. Alas , no "Deals" to be had at that time.

@FayeHazel Not really two sets. The garage sale set is what I'd call an entree set. The household cutlery is stainless steel. I don't have to polish that! Not that I polish the silver either. It sits in its box.

$200 dollars for silverware? Is it made with silver or what
For that price it should clean itself, lol. Anyway, glad you found some at a reasonable price. I mean your just eating food with the utensils not solving the National Debt

Lol! I agree. Actually no, no actual metal value to it, even. Just funky shape. I was so happy to find the ones I have now. Feel about the same (not quite as funky) much better value.
