International Stand Up to Bullying Day I Love to Write Day 1926 - The NBC radio network opens with 24 stations. 1968 - The Cleveland Transit System becomes the first transit system in the western hemisphere to provide direct rapid transit service from a city's downtown to its major airport. It actually provided service from the east side of the city all the way to the airport. We rode on the train the first day that it opened; so that's how I know! 1932 - Petula Clark was born. She is a British singer, actress and composer. Her career started in 1942 and continued to the present time! In the 60s she became known globally. Some of her hits: Downtown (see below), I Know a Place, A SIgn of the Times and Don't Sleep in the Subway. She has sold more than 68 million records. 1951 - Beverly D'Angelo was born. She is an American actress, singer and producer. She is well known for her role as Ellen Griswold in the National Lampoon Vacation movies (1983-2015).
