I never buy ice cream. After I became a widow, I made a list of my eating addictions and decided which ones I would not buy as a way of staying in a smaller budget.
I do not buy either ice cream nor chocolate. But if someone brings some as a present, I don´t say no.
Tania bought 2 big jars of very good ice cream. So today, when she was taking to her home some of the groceries she brought yesterday, I stopped from taking the chocolate ice cream. That serves 2 purposes: my ice cream and my chocolate addictions

We always have ice-cream in the freezer but we'd eat it less than once a fortnight.
