Cold day and hot soup

This is our second day of rain and now have really strong winds with it. I didn't want to go out in it, but had to run to Walmart, of course. Story of my life.
But now I have a pot of home made beef veggie soup simmering on the stove. It smells heavenly! Well, it's venison, not beef, but that makes it even tastier.
Wish you myLotters could come for lunch and a nice long visit. I have chocolate mint squares (brownies) in the freezer we could have for dessert. And of course, I'll fry some cornbread and make cold sweet tea.
How many places on the table should I set?

Funny, because here in north Florida we've had two solid days of col, rain, and wind! Pretty miserable if you ask me. And guess what I had for lunch yesterday? Venison stew! One of my coworkers made it and brought it in to work for us all to enjoy. It was from a buck that her son killed on her property outside of town.
But even though I had my fill of venison stew here, I still wouldn't mind coming to visit and share another venison meal with you! Save me a spot at the table!

@moffittjc Sounds like you know how to clean and cook venison the right way to get rid of that wild taste.

Well, we ate leftovers today for lunch after church, so I'll give you time to drive up from Florida next time I cook. Was your stew good? I know a lot of people who try venison one time, don't like it, and never try it again. But it's so important how it's cleaned to get that wild taste out. My husband knows how to clean it well and only uses the best parts of the deer. Then of course, I get credit for how it's cooked!

@1creekgirl I've been eating venison my whole life. My dad was an expert hunter, and taught me and my brother to hunt as well. I haven't been hunting in quite a while, but I do know how to properly clean a deer and how to cook the meat to make it come out totally delicious!

Have you not tried venison or you just don't like it? The way it's cleaned and cooked makes a world of difference. My husband only uses certain parts and he knows how to clean it and get rid of the wild taste. I bet if you ate my soup, you couldn't tell the difference. Anyway, come on over for the cornbread, brownies, and tea!

Can you count me in Ms. Vicki?
Well, from the sound of it you a have a good meal right there. I also like soup during rainy days. It's fulfilling to the stomach. The easiest I could have is a noodle soup. The chocolate mint squares are interesting.

I'll set a place for you! The chocolate mint squares are really rich brownies with a vanilla cream layer and a chocolate glaze on top.

@1creekgirl I love that but I need to cancel my presence right at this very moment for the reason that I couldn't make there because I was late with my flight.
Maybe, I can have a reservation next time. All for now is my gratitude and apology.

I'll pass, thanks and get a raincheck. I'm having oriental noodles, udon, withe slices of Spam and veggies added like onion, broccoli and bell peppers.

And it's sooo simple to make. Don't feel like fancy cooking this evening. I like these oriental noodles.

@1creekgirl Hot soup sounds just right. We're getting icy gales coming down from the frozen north right now. We're off for the week to Donegal after Church tomorrow - the home of cold, wet and windy weather.
