Mississippi Mud Cake for the School

A knock on the door from the local football team selling cakes. I always try to help them out when I can. And they had one of my favorites. Mississippi mud cake.
I used to make this often. And it has been years since I had one. I always made mine in a long rectangle pan, with marshmallows melted on the top. This one is more like a pound cake but with the same ingredients.
Forgot about buying it until it was delivered yesterday.
For those not familiar with this cake. Funny way it got its name. It is believed to have originated in the 70s and 80s in the American South, and some say it is baked to resemble the mud along the banks of the Mississippi River.
Had a slice with my coffee this morning. Yum is all I can say. It was for a good cause and I am enjoying it, one slice at a time. You can refrigerate it, then heat it up one slice at a time.
Have a good day everyone. Do you also like to help local organizations?

Yummy, that sounds delicious.
I will help if it's from my little 2nd cousins or my niece and nephew.

@CarolDM I don't know that I've ever had it, but I have heard of it before.
I recently (well a few months ago..) tired Hummingbird Cake for the first time and liked it.

I do like to when I can..Last year roomie bought a cheesecake from the local HS...but it was not good..not fresh, and had tons of perservatives in it. I think it ended up getting thrown away honestly.

That is very nice of you to help the team out. Here it is discouraged for kids to go door to door selling things. Most people just post what their kids are selling on Facebook as well as taking the order forms into work for their coworkers to look through. I don’t think I have ever had Mississippi mud cakes but it looks like something my son would like.

If it’s for a good cause, I do. I wonder what that cake is. Never tried it.

That's a kind gesture on your part to buy it and support the team. I am very active to help local organizations. I even volunteer for events and fund raising.

We don't get kids selling for school anymore; but when we did, we would buy something. Haven't seen a Girl Scout in ages.
