Deer Sightings

So far, I have been very lucky with not hitting any deer while driving here in the country. We often see them crossing the road or grazing along the road. When the bright lights hit them it frightens them and they usually freeze in one place but some run. This is when accidents happen.'
My husband hasn't been as lucky. He has had a deer run out in front of him and has hit him with no option to avoid it with an oncoming vehicle. Lots of the country roads have no shoulders so some accidents are not avoidable. Luckily this one did not cause a lot of damage to his car.
I was lucky to see two little deer fawns on my way to the grocery store yesterday. They had already crossed the road and went right into the woods. I love seeing nature and God's creatures living their lives. Sights like this are a blessing indeed.
Can you imagine if you could not see God's creations? Think about that. No birds, butterflies, leaves changing colors, rainbows, blue skies, raindrops falling, flowers, trees budding out, snow, etc. The subjects are endless.

Even though we were camping right on the beach, my son and I saw deer everywhere! They were friendly enough that they would graze pretty close to our camping spot, but suspicious enough of us not to get too close. We had fun on our night hikes, because the deer were everywhere, and when we shined our flashlights in their eyes they would freeze. There were a couple of times we probably could have walked right up the to the deer because they were frozen with the light shining on them.

I love spotting wildlife, especially when we used to travel. It was usually the highlight of the trip.

I miss seeing them in our yard. They used to graze at the edge of the woods on one end and also under the big oak tree in the front. All the stray dogs that we took in and the puppies several years ago kept them away. Maybe they will come back one day now that they are all gone now. But we always get a new one, two or three after hunting season that got lost or left in the woods :(

God and nature provides us with an abundance of animals and creatures to enjoy. Like your husband I too hit a deer crossing a highway with no chance to avoid it. My car did have extensive damage but unfortunately not as much as the deer had
