... Today after she got a cancellation. My husband is getting a perm and I'm getting a cut. The image is the back of my husband's head with her rods. Mine is a selfie which I normally don't like doing therefore it's not the greatest one ever done and then I also snuck one in of my husband's after the rods were removed.
He usually gets his perms in the summer months so he was long overdue. He never cuts his hair in between perms. I don't like long hair on guys, but I keep mine shorter than he prefers because I don't think it looks very good long, so he always does what he wants.
She was going to come in on her day off on Monday before the funeral to cut mine but wouldn't have had enough time for the perm.
Happy Thanksgiving to any and all that celebrate and a belated one to our Canadian friends.

That makes sense @MarshaMusselman so many men just comb their hair forward which really looks ridiculous

My husband might be the only guy that still does perms. It helps to hide his receding hairline which he's very s self conscious of.

@rebelann very true. It looks good on him too and it's one way to get him to let his hair be cut shorter if only for a while. He may try getting it cut after six weeks this round to see if he can save some of the curls and get the bounce back. If he remembers that will mean I won't have to see the long hair as soon.
One day maybe we can afford for him to get it done twice a year but bills come first.

Is the perm for making the hair straight?

@MarshaMusselman yeah, perm is for making curls. I only asked to be sure because people here are crazy with straightening the hair even if the hair is not curly.

@Alexandoy that is done here too not mostly by the younger generation to my knowledge. Not many of us are truly happy with out natural hair styles.

No for adding curls to normally straight hair.

I don't remember but if your in Canada yours is celebrated earlier in the fall, I think, right?
Getting together with family or friends is great no matter what time of the test it may happen.

@MarshaMusselman I think to remember that some did in the mid 80s, my husband never did, he likes short hair.

I think a lot of men did perms here back in the sixties and seventies. He thinks he's losing more hair than others with his many surgeries and feels better about himself when he gets a perm.
I'm sure he's not there only one but it's certainly not as common any more.

We did. Everyone made it in for Thanksgiving the first time ever I think. Usually we have a year here and there where many come for Christmas. We used to have large parties in the summer to celebrate my Moms birthday.

@DianneN I got my new lenses and they were fit into my existing frames without breaking them, yeah for that. The left lens was a bit odd but once she fixed it, it was then fine. I wasn't sure at first but it's been two days and I can drive fine and walk without running into anything and that tells me the depth perception isn't off like it was when I first put them on.

@CarolDM low key works too. It eliminates the need to carry a dish to pass both ways. Although you might be more stuck with all of cleanup unless your husband helps with that.
