My mother was a medium for spirits / myLot

This an anecdote and not fiction. When my mother was a teenager, 2nd world war broke out. The Japanese army took over Manila. To be safe from the atrocities of the colonizers, my grandfather joined a group of spiritists who use a medium to talk to spirits. My mother and her sister were used as medium. They will fast for 3 days before they let a spirit enter the body. The spirit will tell them where to go for safety. Everything was told to me by my mother. I am posting this for the benefit of a newcomer to this site.

Did it work? Did she indeed feel touched by the spirit, or was it just hunger?

According to the stories that I heard from my grandma, aunt and my own mother, the spirits gave them instructions to avoid the violence during the war. They evacuated to the mountain in the next province of Laguna.
