Well, the Spectrum tech came out last night and checked my router and modem, checked the signal coming in, download and upload speeds, checked inside and outside of the house and came to the conclusion that my buffering and internet lag are not the problem of the internet. It could be my computer.
I just spent $140 upgrading to Windows 10; so I am reluctant to purchase a new computer. I have a Toshiba that I put aside because it wasn't running too well. I'm going to unearth it, add my current virus protection to it and see if I have the same problem with it before I order a new computer. Ouch!
Wish me luck! How's your computer running? Good I hope!

I do not look forward to when I have to have windows 10 and a new computer. I understand how you feel. I hope things work out for you.

I do not look forward to having to go to Windows 10 and learn it all over again and have to have things transferred and hope that all will go on the menu.

@Hannihar What I didn't like about 10 was that some of my software and some of my hardware will no longer run on it. :-(

Mine was 7 years old. I never should have upgraded Windows on such an old computer. Rats! $140 down the drain!

I have a new computer that I got last month. My old one went bonkers on me. They usually last me about five years.

This started 3 days ago and has been constant since then. I'm stumped unless it IS my computer.

FIRST.... go to programs and find "windows defender" and do a scan, it will tell you what is on your computer than is making it slow.
I am sure you did this but asking anyways, have you cleared history?

@andriaperry I don't like Windows 10. You can't search just within your PC; and I couldn't find Windows Defender on my list of Programs. Sigh.

I remembered that I had the same problem with hanging up, etc. with the other computer (Toshiba). That's why I purchased the Dell...which is old (2012).

@CarolDM It's been working...It just takes me 10x as long to do something because it keeps hanging up and buffering. I don't think it will be worthwhile to set up the Toshiba because I had the same problem with it years ago.

I ordered mine from the shopping network and pay it off in several payments. We have those same issues here with our internet but it's because we have old wiring and not a very good connection. The landlord won't upgrade.

Did the buffering thing happen after you upgraded to windows 10? Perhaps you only need to update your graphics card driver, if you don't know how perhaps you know somebody who does..
Also check your RAM, there might be to many programs in your computer that's running at the same time. Are you the only one who uses your internet connection? I think these are the simplest things you need to look into first if all is fine with your internet speed. Good luck.

Yes, it started after I upgraded to Windows 10. I'm the only one that uses the internet connection. Thank you. I'll look into updating my driver.

It's always our fault or our computer's fault. Never bad service. Right. Been there, done that, proven them wrong.
