December 12 - What I'm Thankful for Today

I'm thankful for the weathermen who get it right. We got snow today. I don't know yet if we're going to get the predicted 3.1 inches, but I hope so. 
If we did, they will do snow plowing in the parking lot and I'm going to see the movie I wanted to see on Tuesday. I can get the $5 senior discount on Friday.
I'm thankful for rock painting. I got a lot of rocks painted this morning. They're Christmas presents for friends at church and a few others.
I'm thankful for each and every one of you. Every day I come here and every day I'm blessed. You're a great lot of people. I love reading about what's going on in your lives.
I'm thankful I listened to my instincts, God? and didn't go to the pool this morning. I had a feeling it would take a long time to clear the car, and it did. 45 minutes of scraping. The car was toasty warm when I got ready to leave for rock painting.
I'm thankful I didn't go to Aldi this morning but went to Pick N Save instead. The roads were slippery when I left the ADRC this morning after rock painting. There were times it looked like a whiteout in front of me.
I'm thankful I made it home safely from shopping.
It's easy to overlook the blessings in our lives and focus on the negative and have a woe is me attitude about everything in life. However, when you make a point of focusing on the positive and see the good in the things around you, the negative disappears. I've been told I have a great positive attitude. I appreciate that. Many years ago, I determined to change my outlook and I never regretted that decision.
I lived my younger life with hate and rejection. It was hard to find anything good in my life with so much negativity coming at me all the time. One day I was on the bus home from work and I realized that when a person thought positively about something, that something happened just as much as the negative does when someone focuses on it. I determined at that point that I would no longer think a negative thought. I'm not going to say it was easy, it wasn't, but eventually, the smile you see in my profile is the one you always see. For me not to smile is unpleasant.
The next time you have a negative thought come your way, invading your life, stop, look around you and find a way to turn that negativity into something positive. I guarantee when you do it often enough, you'll start smiling more and the negativity will be a thing of the past.

i 'gree with ya, hon. though such's quite oft tricky. then 'gain, ya ought'a know me 'nough by now that i'm enchanted with clouds, critters, leaves, etc. i try to quickly turn my frustrations 'round. which irritates the hubs somethin' fierce, lol. 'tis a habit though. jest's wallowin' 'bout all that's bad. a choice all can make.
i'm thankful ya made 't through yer day safely. i'd worried 'bout'cha bein' out'n those roads.
today i'm thankful fer the birds. watchin' their daily activities 'tis great fun 'n 't times quite comical. lil sparrows fightin' o'er who's turn 't 'twas to bathe'n the waterfall. one fergettin' those waterlilies 're very weak this time 'f year. thought i 'twas gonna need to go rescue the lil darlin', but 't flapped'n splashed o'er to a branch i've got'n the pond fer jest such oopses. the moon 'twas brilliant 'gain tonight, too. a fiery orange early'n, great pic through tree branches. the kittens were a hoot. got me some pony time, which's 'lways good. mr. rocky 'twas'n rare form, wishin' to play'n get lots 'f lovin'. mr. whiskey 'twas full 'f himself 'fter his mid mornin' nap. prancin' 'round, with neck arched gracefully. the resident cat 'tis feelin' better 't seems, most grateful fer that. i could continue, but such'd be longer'n yer original discussion, lol.

@just4him i dunno if'n i shared such here, so'm puttin' ya the pic, hon. i wish ya could'a been here, too. we could'a sat'n the porch swing, wrapped'n quilts with a warm cup 'f tea. listened to the birds, the waterfall 's 't licked 'round the grooves 'n made 'ts way to the pond. glorious sunset to finish off the day 'n ya could'a met the crew :)

Yes, it was good while it lasted. We didn't get enough though, but there's always next time. Right now I don't know when that will be as the forecast after this weekend is clear. Which is good. I'll finally get back to the pool.
