I Refuse to Murder my Husband

I will not kill myself or my dear husband. I refuse to poison us both with horrible foods. I limit as much as humanly possible processed food, additives, food coloring, preservatives, too much red meat, GMOs, antibiotics, fats, sugars, salts, etc. We dine out frequently, and most of the time, (not all of the time) order fresh fish, organic foods, salads, and foods I don’t cook at home. We follow our doctors’ advice, buy organic and natural foods, and read about healthy living. We just rode our bicycles over the bridge in my photo and all the way around the beach to our home. So we get our exercise, too. Why? Because I love him too much.

. Don’t laugh, but I have been thinking about us getting a boat. Just don’t tell him! I haven’t. Still in the just thinking stage.

@DianneN Maybe you can both take a boating course together. Generally, boat owners have to take a boating safety course anyway..You can ask questions and so forth. They do require a lot of maintenance though especially if used in saltwater.

@snowy22315 I know alllllllll about that. Lol! We definitely would need a license, lessons, and experience in watching the sky, clouds, and wind for squalls and storms, which would take years of experience. All we have is saltwater here. It would take so much work and be very expensive keeping it in the marina. I’m also worried about leaving it here during hurricane season. I think renting is the best way to go.

There is way too much junk in America anymore that is allowed to be sold

@DianneN Some countries dont allow some of our food to be sold. I have a cousin overseas. Her mom ships her goodies including cereal that she cant buy there. What they have is less additives to it.

@wolfgirl569 Yes, overseas, the foods are very different than ours. Some good. Some not so good.

That's wonderful you are concerned with what you eat. That's what I love about Aldi. It's largely non-GMO. I've found most of the food I need for my current diet plan can be found there. My recent find was coconut sugar and a brown sugar alternative. I'm thinking chocolate chip cookies might be back in my diet with those wonderful alternatives that fit nicely into my diet.

I’ve never been to an Aldi market. As you know, I can go without sweets forever, but do serve them when we have guests. Keep up the good work! You’re doing so well.

@DianneN I know you can. I look for those sweets that are good for you and not empty calories. I would use the chocolate nibs in place of the chocolate chips and have a superfood instead of bad calories.

@DianneN Yes I know I can, I was once vegan but traveling got in the way of finding food. But that was then, now there are more options available.

The way you say it is really interesting and adds more emphasis on eating healthy. I have been poisoning myself a lot lately. Busy work schedule and running low on sugar made me dependent on chocolate.

@DianneN I am doing long shifts these days like 14 hours and the healthy stuff does not seem to get my sugar up like the good old chocolate. I haven’t been moderating at all. I feel bad and I gain so much.

I say everything in moderation. A little here and there shouldn’t poison you. Too much and too often will.

That's very commendable that you try your best to choose healthy options in your food choices. I really need to start doing the same. One thing I would caution you on though...most fish contain high levels of mercury, so be careful to limit your intake of fish. Or, check to see which type have the lowest levels of mercury.
