I do not shop anything but groceries and meds.

Things change with age. I used to buy material to sew nice clothes for me. I had then youth and a nice body. And I could have beautiful dresses for a small amount of money as I knew how to sew. Now sewing at home is not worth the work. There are inexpensive garments for everyone. And as I am not as young as I used to be, I buy something only once in a while that lasts me for ages. But I spend more that what I should in groceries ( I like to eat well and I like to invite friends for dinner) and last but not least, in meds. In my country, health insurances don´t give any meds, except if you are hospitalized. So, all expensive meds that you must take until the day you die, must be bought Still, I am lucky to be able to have a luxury in my life. I go for vacations. Do you have a luxury? What is ti?

I'm not a big shopper either. I usually get the necessities.

I could have written that same thing,, although I don't take many vacations. When I do, I try to save money but I often spend more than I intend. Food is my luxury, I think! I eat a lot of organic food for health reasons and I like good chocolate. My insurance covers most of my medicines and they only cost 3 to 5 dollars a prescription, so that's not a problem.

Vacations are not very expensive for me as I have a timeshare in Aruba. I bought it around 25 years ago and it is awesome.

I'm like you and I believe I shop very frugally. So, if I want a treat, I buy it. Occasionally, I'll buy myself Lindt chocolates but it's never anything big. I bought myself two summer dresses yesterday but saved 70% because they were on sale.

I only shop for what is needed. Even in our country insurance mainly covers hospitalization and major treatment. It doesn't cover medicines.

@arunima25 Yes, it is. I will give Leticia some meds she has to buy for Christmas. It is a shame that I cannot buy a small luxury this year. But she needs meds more.

@marguicha Makes it tough for people like us who have to have regular medicine and some of them are costly.

That's wonderful you could sew so well that you made your own dresses. Now it's usually just cheaper to buy the clothes instead of making them. I did make my daughter a simple dress when she was little.

When I was young, buying the dresses I liked was a lot more expensive thn to make them.

When I was able to travel, it was vacations. Now I use the money I earn online, etc. to go out to eat once or twice a month...that's my little luxury.

I only eat out when I´m invited. I repay by inviting for dinner at home.
