What's the best gift for someone who is picky to shop for?

I bet we all know someone who can never decide what they want for a gift. They are so frustrating as you can't decide what to get them and they are no help either. When you ask them "What do you want for ____?" they always say "I don't know" or even "whatever you think I'd like."
Some of us may even be this person.
So my question to you is this..
What do you get for a picky person who has everything?
Name one option OTHER THAN a gift card that you could give them. Let's make this exciting.
For me? I think I would give them a pillow, it's something different but something just as necessary. We should all be switching out our pillows more often.

Find out what kind of sport they are actively involved in. Such as basketball, swimming, or maybe fishing. Then, buy something they can always use, in that sport. I think a gas card is something we can all use.

That's a good idea, most everyone likes a sport. The person who inspired this discussion isn't a big fan of sports, but I was thinking paying for a subscription service for them would work.

@kobesbuddy People aren't using TV guide as much anymore. This friend works a lot now and so he records things. I was just thinking how he wanted to get Disney +

@Butterfingers Okay, that's fine. It's just that I asked for suggestions that WERE NOT a gift card.

For most people!
My brother in law is usually happy with food. i didn't have the money to buy him anything this year, but what I had planned on buying him he's gotten sick of eating!

I would offer my time. I was surprised how many people love getting some undivided attention from a friend so now I just ask what they want to do with their time, I've been out shopping with one friend and will meet another for lunch one day next week. Often all anyone wants is someone to listen to them, I can do that.

@rebelann I'm not the best at domestic stuff either, both because I hate doing it and because I try to do it as quickly as possible.

I remember you writing about this before. I think that's such a great gift. I think even offering to do their dishes or vacuum their floors is a good gift.
I petsit my friend's animals for free, of course she always brings me something back which I appreciate, but I tell her she doesn't have to bring me anything.

My friend asked her husband for stocking stuffer ideas. He did not give her any help, but said "I don't know baby, whatever you think I'd like." His Christmas list is only about ten ideas. I usually gift him food.

Hmm, I was thinking of a gift card. But how about a fruit basket or Edibles ediblearrangements.com has Christmas goodies too!

That's a great gift as well, provided you know the person likes fruit or chocolates. I know some people who are extremely picky about these things, including the person who inspired this discussion.

@oahuwriter Ah yes, shopping bags is a good idea for sure. Or even coin purses would be a cute gift.

I see. Well, how about some kind of cookie basket or a custom basket you can make up? Or shopping bags that everyone needs now days for shopping?

I think men are the hardest to buy for but for some reason I found myself buying him a whole bunch of stuff even though I said the tv for our bedroom was his gift.
I don't buy my girls clothes anymore. They have way too much. But of course I did. My older daughter got a Nespresso machine from her fiance last Christmas. They ran out of coffee in a matter of a couple of months so I bought them all coffee for that machine. I am giving quite a few gift cards this year though. Bath and Body Works is the place to go... candles, soap, hand sanitizers, they will all be used.

I would give them a gift card to a place that they go to all the time.

As much as I hate that my answer would be MONEY. This way they can get whatever they want. And they can't complain they don't like the gift. Of course, they can complain you gave them not enough money.
But that is a whole different story.

That is great. It's definitely helpful / easier when you know what your other half wants and likes. You have been together for a decade now?

Gift card! Or cash
$$$$
Because people who are always hard to shop for, are never happy anyway.

Nah, that's not true. I think people who are hard to shop for are atleast somewhat happy with whatever they are given. If they aren't, all they have is themselves to blame.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Or picky. They might just be too selective/picky.
If someone handed me a little seed wrapped in tissue with a bow on top, I’d be like YESS! I’m gonna go plant it right now!
It would be enough to keep me happy for weeks. (It doesn’t take much.)

@Melanie_Marie Yes, it doesn't take much to make me happy either. I've told friends that just taking me out to eat would make me happy, or buying me a cheap blanket etc.

unfortunately, gift cards are usually a pretty good option when you're not sure what to get.
I've always liked those gift in a jar ideas, like a movie night one or a coffee themed one, something you know they like and can at least eat? that way you know it's not going to waste if it's a food they like

The guy who inspired this discussion? I usually give him food related items as it's the safest. However, he's now getting picky / tired of what he usually eats. I didn't gift him anything this year as I was running out of money. I don't like giving gift cards because I feel like it's not as personal.

@isweartokira It will be nothing this year, but I did give him a gift for his Bday which was in November.
He doesn't read, but he does watch television. If I had the money, I'd probably pay for a few months of a subscription service for him.
