What are you going to do when your bananas are getting brown?

I don´t like to waste food. I have experienced so much hunger when I was a child. Not all through my childhood years though but the time when the tailoring of my father was burned. My parents were not really so poor and they had plenty of friends but when we were getting into poverty, the friends were gone. Have you experienced that? That hard time influenced my life too much that I can´t waste food. Today, I have seen that my bananas were getting black. I didn´t like to eat them anymore and so I baked banana sponge cake. I have made this a thousand times and so it was easy. The cake is cooling now. It will be smelling good on Christmas Eve and this might be our dessert. What do you do then when your bananas are getting black? Bake a cake, make ice cream or freeze them until use? Thanks for reading. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

I usually eat them all before they get bad, but if they do, I make banana muffins or cakes.

@thelme55 And they are so good that way. Also, a smoothie with almond milk.

Yes, I have a lot of friends online and in reality when I was still healthy. But when I got sick few of them visits me, until no one stays. It’s hard. If we have brown banana, we used to give it out neighbors who has piggery.

@thelme55 I honestly don't remember. I can't stand for more than a couple minutes; so I don't cook or bake hardly at all anymore. I think there was baking soda in it.

I am not good in baking and the only means to preserve the over ripening banana is to make it into ice cream. After cutting into thin slices, I would mix with condensed milk, evaporated milk and sugar. Freeze and that's it.

I am like you, but I did not grow up poor. But NOTHING goes to waste. Nothing. I do not really eat bananas although my wife does. She rarely lets them get too ripe. But my mom used to make banana bread out of them all the time. If she did not want to make the bread she'd freeze them and make the bread later. But she always used them up.

That is sad people stopped coming around when your family fell on hard times. I guess they weren’t true friends. I freeze the bananas and use them in smoothies and muffins and bread etc.

Yes, it was sad indeed but then we know who our friends were @shaggin. I do freeze my bananas like you do and use them later for ice cream, muffins or smoothies. This time, I have no space in the freezer so I baked. Thank you.

Our bananas never reach that point, they get gobbled up sometimes it's still a bit unripe and everybody is already excited to eat them , I'm the number one culprit, I can eat several bananas a day and pushed down with a lot of water. My large parrot named Molo also helps in the consumption.

I have not known poverty, but my parents lived during WWII and they have known what it means not to have food. I am like you, I never waste food. When the bananas get brown I prepare a banana bread.

@thelme55 Yes, I was poor here and someone saved my life and eventually got back on my feet again. I eat whatever I can of the bananas and then when no good at all I had to throw them away.
