Did you think a new game show was on television? Haha, nope I'm talking about the Christmas wrapping game! I have already told hubby he is playing along (helping) and he wasn't exactly thrilled at the idea. Oh well! It has to be done and I need it done tonight so I can take care of what I didn't get or forgot to get tomorrow. We will have to make some hot chocolate and just make the best of it. I don't mind wrapping but I need some conversation too. Have you gotten all of your gifts wrapped or do you wait until the last minute like I do? Photo Credit: Pixabay, public domain

That was a smart idea! You could stick a bow on top; that would work but you are good like they are!

All wrapped and ready to go. Okay, so that's not strictly true. There are two gifts that I will not wrap in the traditional sense. I never do, and they do not mind that I never do. I've already exchanged with a few people. I am hoping your wrapping goes by swiftly. Hopefully with two people working at it, it will go faster. Just make sure your keeping a record of who you've wrapped for and who you haven't so that you know who and what to buy for tomorrow.

Oh yeah - I'll record all in a notebook. I usually do this as I shop but this year has been whacky to say the least.

@kareng I don't shop for a lot of people so I don't have to worry about it as much. I don't see how people that shop for lots of people do it.

I still have to go get a gift for my mom and hubby said to pick up another small gift for the three boys in Lafayette. They have one big gift together and he wants them each to have something so, I get to go shopping! Fun, not so fun because it will be crowded.

@kareng Are you going tonight? If someplace is open all night that might be a better time to go.

@wolfgirl569 Nope, he immediately said, "You are not going anywhere tonight." Mr Law Enforcement think I shouldn't go anywhere after dark. Hummm.

I think I got some folks a tad angry here when I told the truth about my house: the Christmas boxes that come in, get dumped on the guest bed. No wrapping. Christmas morning, those boxes will come out of hiding and we'll open and laugh or cry.

@sallypup not to mention what you paid for the paper and ribbons too! Yep.

It's really silly. You buy paper. Here I am wrapping gifts which will be opened in two days and the paper thrown in the trash. So you are buying paper to wrap with that will go in the trash in just a few days. That's sad and could be seen as irresponsible.

@kareng Seeing the pretty paper all crumpled and wadded up makes me sad then yeah, I am responsible for cramming a garbage bag full and we pay for the garbage to be taken away- after we've pulled the toter down to the road.

@kareng However, it took me a year or two to learn to label them as I went!

We don't have any gifts to wrap; but when I did I always did them ahead of time. I love to wrap gifts for someone else.

I used to really enjoy wrapping. I think that fell into the time warp here. The oldest is divorced and her new hubby is also divorced with children so the kids are always swapping from one house to the other. Add in everyone's work schedules and you get a big mess. We didn't all get together this year for the first time. The oldest and her family are still trying to get moved into another house. I was checking with her today thinking all the boys would be home next weekend but they won't. I don't know when we will see them.

I thought you might have been talking about the competition reality show that aired this month called, Wrap Battle. A whole bunch of wrappers compete for $50,000. Wrapping gifts used to be a chore, but I like it better now. In fact, the show I just mentioned inspired to make the presents even more elaborate than normal.

I used to love wrapping and worked part time in gift wrap in high school. The supervisor was like a drill Seargent and made you start over if you did something wrong. She was very strict and we laughed when someone had to start over. I'm glad you enjoyed wrapping this year. I have not watched that show, but it sounds interesting! Merry Christmas!

I wrap gifts as I buy them. Being a girly girl, I've always been surprised that I really don't wrap gifts very well.

I can remember when wrapping was fun and a big deal. Now I don't have time to do it. Wrapping as you get them would be a problem for me because I would forget what I bought xyz. Do you keep a notebook? I've done that before. I usually pick things up throughout the year and store in one place in the closet or a big box. It does make things simpler whenever you need a fast gift during the year and cuts down on the list at Christmas.

Did you enjoy playing the unwrapping game as well? lol With 2 kids in the house, I have to wrap gifts as soon as I get them, otherwise curious eyes will start to look for things they shouldn't see until the big day!

Oh yeah the unwrapping and watching them get into them is fun. I see your point there with kids in the house. One of my daughters had `3 mo. old that discovered unwrapping early. She had to put all the gifts in the closet! Then he started playing in the water in tree stand. This is my little climber that I posted about not long ago. He's always in to something!

@kareng Hey, don't knock the tree stand water until you've tried it! It's like drinking out of the toilet bowl, but the water is balsam flavored! lol

I have a whole new group to wrap now, but no hurry because we are trying to find a day when everyone is off and the kids are all there and not with the other parent. (I hate divorces!!)
