Merry Christmas, one and all!

Ah, Christmas. Crying babies in fake Santas' arms. People worshipping the birth of Jesus by battling it out for material possessions. Horns honking as cars fight for dominance on the way to Grandma's. But I do have some fond family Christmas memories as well. Anyway, Merry Christmas to all of my MyLot friends. And enemies. And Happy Hanukkah as well.

Merry Christmas! No gifts here, I gave but I didn`t receive, wait! yes I did, the calendar from my kid friend. Only headed to my friends for dessert with her family. What are your plans? Did Santa come see you?

I haven't gotten any presents so far. But there's nothing I really want.

Merry Christmas! Solstice is past, the days are already several minutes longer and none of my friends have eaten so much that they've exploded. At least not as far as I know ...

Yes, I've watched people explode. I was actually there, eating pate, when this occurred.

@TheHorse Yes, it happens. Until now I've managed to stop in time, but I'm not quite sure all my friends are that sensible.

Most kids are scared by Santa. I am so glad we had not this tradition when I was a kid. Happy Holidays to you.

@TheHorse The Befana is not at all a "witch" she is a kind old woman who brings chocolates on the Epiphany day, not at Christmas anyway.

@TheHorse When I was a kid in Italy Santa was unknown, our parents told us that "Baby Jesus" came on the night of his birthday to bring gifts to the kids. As you had an American heritage you surely were told that Santa brought the gifts.

I was petrified by the "Christmas Witch" in Italy. I remember crying and wanting to go home.

Do you light a candle every night of Hanukkah? I do, but it's always been a single candle, as my brother has our family menorah in Worcester Mass.

@DianneN Ah, got it. A single candle is enough to help me "reflect," but Horse Jr., out of the blue, gave me one (areally nice menorah) the other day. I don't even know where he (and his mom) got it. I should go to the Dollar Tree and "score" some skinny candles.

@TheHorse No, because our menorahs are in Connecticut.

@TheHorse Yes. I'll be right here with the TV on in the living room waiting for the countdown. I'd watch it, but in recent years the Rockin' New Year's Eve wasn't my kind of music. Though I did find it hilarious a couple of years ago when it was super cold and the hosts were dressed like they were in the Arctic. I guess New York City doesn't get too cold in winter.

Happy Boxing Day! It's a day I learned about in The Bahamas when I visited my later husband's parents back in the 70s. It comes the day after Christmas and it seems it's a fun holiday too!

Our human nature often spoils our good intentions. We've enjoyed being with our family...husband's sick with a bad cold, heading home in the morning. Hope your Christmas was blessed.
