Three books find their way home

The photo has nothing to do with the discussion. One of our kangaroos had an itch.
My sister-in-law brought back three books that I’d lent to a niece probably twelve months ago. I had forgotten she had them but it’s nice that they’ve come ‘home’. I am missing a couple of books that I really miss. I have a few favourites that I like to reread from time to time but one is missing. I don’t know if I lent it but I guess I must have.
One that was missing I bought again in a second-hand shop. The other one I want is ‘I heard the owl call my name’. It is set in Canada and written by Margaret Craven. I might buy it off Ebay or somesuch one day.
I try not to lend books nowadays as I find they often don’t come home again. We might be heading into town with my sister-in-law soon so perhaps I’ll look in the second-hand bookshop while I’m there. We’ll also hit the two op shops so that should be fun. I wonder what treasures we’ll find.

sounds like how I used to be with my books . except I usually ended up not reading them again just liked having them but reading others I would find. I bet you read several at a time too. I had one in each room even in the bathroom and one outside on the porch. LOL
had over 400 at one point I owned and also sometimes forgot who I lended to.

@JudyEv I understand. It always gave me comfort just to look at them on shelves and in boxes.
silly I know. I had so many I hadn't read that I would forget and buy a second like one I had. Libraries and book stores were my fun places to go,

@bunnybon7 I've ended up with two copies once or twice too. I just like looking at them in the shelves.

Really? That's awful. However, being a farmer's daughter it doesn't send me into hysterics. Pretty sad that it was a pet though.

Since going minimal I don`t keep many books. I have a library about 5 miles away.

@JudyEv LOL, once I had to give stuff to my sister, I knew she would toss it in the goodwill box.

That's a cute picture of the Kangaroo itching itself
I love my books like my babies and treasure them. I really feel bad if one of them go missing and I can't recall it. I have lost two of my books like that. Now I am more careful.

@JudyEv Yes. Or at least keep a written account of the exchange or lending so that it's easier to trace back later.

If you remember the book and the friend, I guess you can ask for it eventually. I never manage to do the remembering bit. lol

that is very true, when books grow wings they are seldom homing pigeons, and are gone forever!

That's awful that the book was returned damaged. If it were me, I would have bought a new one to return.
