So, it is official now.
First some statistics and some news.
Yesterday saw a low of 6 C in Delhi.
The Christmas day had Delhites shivering at 11.5 and 5.4 C.
Detailed Analysis:
Weather department has found that after 1997, Delhi is having the coldest December with an average maximum mean around 19.8 C.
The record low after 1901 was in 1997 - around 17.8 C.
Delhi last had a cold spell- some consecutive 9 to 10 days of low temperatures in 2014, and more extreme ones in 2003 and 2008.
But after a long time, I have seen a December like this. Yet, then may be I was more physically active, I was able to tolerate the cold better.
By the way, the cold weather is testing me. I wonder if one day, we see something like a maximum of 5 C and minimum of 1 or zero C ??
Many of our offices have central temperature control, but not homes.
And it is a chore to bathe at time, and shave, even with doors closed. And I am feeling like a sloth bear, and pretty lazy.
But can I hibernate?
Well no!!
And if any person of other nation or state wants to experience a Hilly area feel in a plain area, one can come to Delhi now!!

Late edit :
I am reminded of the constant 9 and 2 max and min (in C) in England, during my stay there years ago.
And without the central heating, well it is almost the same!!
So we have in some ways, the cold, dark and grey English weather !!

Weather forecast says we'll be getting +8 to til +10C on Saturday and Sunday.
That's not a record low but it might be record high. Far too warm for December, -5C would have been nice.
I suppose having woolen clothes is not usual in Dehli? Bit too warm with wool in +5C for me, but if you find it too cold, IMO woolen clothes are the best.

We are familiar with lows of even close to zero (2 to 5 C) in Delhi. The problem is continuously low side temperatures- especially day ones between 12 and 18, when they used to be between 17 and 23, i.e a drop of 5 to 6 C.
That and some cold winds makes life difficult.

@Torunn
So how many layers of clothes do you wear in your house in winters?

@LadyDuck
So the weather we are having would not be difficult for you. But from a high near 45 C to daily average of 14-15 is a bit difficult.
So now I am wearing multiple layers of clothes- sweater, jacket etc.

@LadyDuck well and we have a air blower. It is not very healthy, but fine for two months of peak winters.

You made me happy to realize that the weather here is just fine. I have a low tolerance for the cold weather.

even I am not very comfortable in too hot or too cold. And well, I have never been to a place with constant sub zero temperatures, so I have no experience!

Yes, with snow and below zero C.
I had experienced such kind of a weather in a hill station long time back for a couple of days and that was very very tough.

Delhi's cold is always testing. As discussed on this forum, people elsewhere particularly in America and Canada are staying in worst conditions. But they are equipped with the facilities like temperature control in homes, adequate clothing etc. We in India can not afford to have them so suffer even with much better conditions.

@msdivkar I was in England in Nov-Dec 2005, and lived in a place with central heating. It was so comfortable that I could roam around in a single sweater or even in a shirt.
The only discomfort was when using bathroom, which was for a short time.
And the Thermostat is adjustable there.
Of course, they have to maintain the whole setup too, but they manage.

Yes due to a lot of deforestation, industrial and vehicular pollution.
Steps have been started to rectify the things but it would take time.
