An Open House Party

Yesterday I got a text from a woman I know inviting me to an open house party which would go on from 3pm until late. She is the parent of one of my granddaughter's friends and we are both invited. Since I don't know this woman well I am debating whether to go. My granddaughter wants to and it is within walking distance from where I live but I don't know what to expect. Should I take a bottle of something? Is it going to turn into a boozy party? I suppose I could go for a short while and just see if it is my kind of thing. Maybe I'll write and let you all know how it went later.

I guess you just have to inquire about the details so you would not be out of line. We were also invited to a party in the community but we are still to ask about the details so we would know what to bring and what to wear.

Dress will be casual I think but I won't know many people. I might just turn up for a short while just to be polite.

@sprite1950 if I am invited and I don't know the people, I would probably just drop by with my contribution and give an alibi that I couldn't stay.

@Alexandoy I might do that. It seems polite although I know my granddaughter will want to stay with her friend.

Is this an open house party mainly for teenagers? May be to bring soft drinks would be a better idea, to avoid that it turns into a booze party.

No I think it's mainly adults. She is inviting Teagan because she is friendly with her daughter,

@LadyDuck I don't know. I think they will be upstairs having fun in her friend's room leaving the adults to get on with it.

@sprite1950 I see, in this case I suppose that Teagan will get soon bored and you can have an excuse to escape if you do not like.

It is a bit of a quandary when these invitations turn up. You might have a great time at it. I guess you can always make some excuse to come home if you're not enjoying it. And an open house means you can come and go as you please within those times.

Yes I think I will show my face or it will be awkward next time I see the woman. People know when you are making excuses.

@sprite1950 Good idea to take a bottle of something. Good idea to just check it out and see if you like it or leave if you want.

This was some time ago now. I didn't go in the end because I was ill but my granddaughter went to be with her friend.

@sprite1950 Good idea that you stayed home because you were sick. Did your granddaughter and her friend have a good time?
