The war has begun / myLot

The long discussed war between America and Iran has begun I feel with Iran retaliating the killing of their supreme commander General Qassem Suleimani by firing missiles at American Embassy in Iraq and also Balad airbase hosing American troops. As per the news report at least 2 rockets landed near American Embassy and another 3 near Balad airbase. I don't think president Trump is going to take it lying low although he had shown his interest in diffusing the crisis. This could therefore be possible to flare up to full fledged war and then depending upon the stand taken by Russia and China can blow to full fledged world war which according to me should not last for more than a few days. The nuclear arsenal, it is believed, these countries possess is sufficient to destroy this world many times in matter of a few days. What do you think this little incident can blow upto full fledged war between America and Iran? Could it further develop into world war 3? Who is to be blamed for all these things?

I think you have this a little bit backwards. The Iranians first attacked the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. THEN the president, Donald Trump, made the kill order for the Iranian general in retaliation for the attack on the Embassy. That all aside, I do not think this will spark a full fledged war. For one thing, Iran does not have the defenses nor the troops, nor the weapons to be victorious against the United States. It would be a fool's errand for them to try.

I am not taking any sides. I know for sure Iran is not equipped to take on America anywhere. I am just worried about other powers taking the sides.

@porwest besides most of the other countries agree it needed doing they just didn't have the balls themselves. Now it's done and everybody can quit posturing.., in time.

Let us hope for the best. If you can remember similar situation had come up in 60s when America blocked Russian consignment to Cuba and it was a close call to third world war.
