Got more cash back at the supermarket than I was supposed to

I went to my local supermarket yesterday to get some things that I need and see what's on sale that I use. If something that I use happens to be on sale but I don't really need it right now I rather get it now for less than pay more later when I need it.
The large size of the dishwashing liquid I use, that I wasn't able to get for the sale price when I went to the store end of December because none were on the shelf, was actually there. And the same sale price of 2/$6 was in effect. So of course I got two bottles.
The toilet paper wasn't on sale before but was on sale now. Twelve mega rolls for $13.99 instead of $15.99. I got two packs of those as well. I think even the sale price is not cheap but at least I saved $4, which is pretty good.
The toothbrush I use happened to be on sale as well. The price tag on the shelf said 2/$7, which means one should cost me $3.50. When I did the self-checkout the toothbrush rang up as $3.99, which is its usual price. And then it gave me a 26 cent discount, making the price $3.73. This was incorrect as it should have rung up as $3.50 in the end.
Of course, I didn't leave the store. After I finished checking out I went to customer service to get 23 cents back. At least that is what I expected. What I ended up getting back was $1.43. I left the store happy but as hubby and I were driving back home I wondered why the girl gave me that much money back... Was it being sold for even less or did the girl make a mistake?
Have you ever gotten more money back at the store than you were anticipating?
The total spent at the supermarket yesterday was about $63. Going to the store I did not expect to spend that much. But everything I got is what I eat or use so it wasn't a waste of money. Though there were some things I bought (milk, grapefruit, Persian cucumbers) that I could've gotten at my Russian grocery store for slightly less.

I can't remember a time when I got more money back than I was expecting. Usually it's the other way around.

I would be upset if I got back less money than I was supposed to. I got my money back in cash. What should've happened was that she should've put the money back on my credit card as that was my form of payment. She didn't even ask me how I paid and just gave me cash. As long as I got my money back that is what matters, however, when it comes time to pay my credit card bill I will still have to pay the total I charged originally and I hate that.

I understand how important it is to save money when shopping. I had a trepidation, when I tried to get my $1 off online coupon that didn't show up at the register. So I went to the manager and showed her my phone with the clipped coupon, and she gave me an override deduction of $1 that the clipped online coupon wouldn't give me. But she had me call the customer service to let them know about it and what I should do when it happens again and to make sure my card and phone was in sync. It was. Once in a while I go through what you went through, and it's all worth it for it adds up. I get my toilet paper a 12 pack for $4 at Walgreens. I got a Senior discount, too, which only Walgreens gives on regular priced items.

It's crazy what you had to go through but it is worth it to get that discount, which you rightfully deserve. What toilet paper do you get? That's a very cheap price for a 12-roll pack. Toilet paper in Duane Reade is not cheap. I don't think I've ever seen at that price, even when it was on sale.

@oahuwriter I have a rewards card from Duane Reade and since Walgreens acquired Duane Reade I can use it in both stores. I've never heard of Smile.

It's Walgreen's brand Smile. It's the cheapest now where I live. Marukai had 12 pack of toilet paper on sale for 3.99 and just a half a block from where I live so easy transporting it. Now I got to catch 2 buses, and put my toilet paper which is 12 pack but stacked in 4 lines and 3 across, so it's easy to put into my pull shopping bag cart. Light so no matter, but farther than Marukai. I got $5 Walgreens rewards to spend too. Got to get their card, online account for free too. You can check them out online to see about it too.

Oh yes that is great you got a good bunch of deals there Lena!
Yes I shopped online at Amazon and got $30 off my $50 order. And now am stocked up on household items such as toilet paper, paper towels and so on.

Wow! That is a huge discount. I want to see if the toilet paper I use is available online at a lower cost than what I get it for at the supermarket. Maybe then it would make sense to get it online. Although I have to figure in the shipping. If the shipping is not free, and a big amount, it may not make sense for me to get it online.

Me too. But I hate it when they are on sale but not on the shelf or sold out.
