"Planes, Trains and Automobiles" is a comedy that was released in 1987. It was written, produced and directed by the great John Hughes who is responsible for such great movies as "Breakfast Club", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Home Alone". CAST Steve Martin - Neal Page John Candy - Del Griffith Laila Robins - Susan Page Michael McKean - State Trooper Kevin Bacon - Taxi Racer Dylan Baker - Owen Olivia Burnette - Marti Page Larry Hankin - Doobie Richard Herd - Walt Matthew Lawrence - Neal Page, Jr. Edie McClurg - Car Rental Agent Neal Page is an advertising account executive on a business trip to New York to finalize a marketing image for a line of cosmetics. Hours go by and no design is finalized; so the executives say that they will pick it up after the holidays. Now Neal has one thing on his mind -- to get back to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving. Neal heads to the airport to catch the 6 PM to Chicago; but he's unable to get a cab. Finally he pays a lawyer to take his cab; but Del Griffith steals it from him. Del is an annoying shower curtain ring salesman. "The best in the world." Finally, at the airport, Neal's flight gets delayed; and then he's bumped from First Class to Coach...and then he sits next to...You guessed it! Del Griffith! Due to heavy snow the flight is diverted to Wichita, Kansas. The flight is canceled soon after. As Neal suspects, there are no more hotel rooms available in the city. Del agrees to help him find one if Neal will pay the cab fare. If you want to see what's next, you will have to watch the movie. Needless to say, Neal and Del's luck goes downhill from here. You have a winning combination: John Hughes, Steve Martin and John Candy. I recommend this movie. This movie is rated R. Photo Credit: Pixabay

@porwest Yes. He's an air traffic controller and is told to take a vacation; so they go down to Florida and stay in a house that's less than perfect...and of course a lot of things go wrong.

@LindaOHio I think I have heard of it, but it's not ringing a bell for me. Was Candy in it?
