A Major Weather Event

With yoyoing temperatures we are under a weather advisory. Nova Scotia has their emergency response team set up and spread around the province. New Brunswick has a similar team and response in the works. We have been told to be prepared to be without electricity for up to 72 hours. I have candles, water, canned food, batteries, flashlight and a full propane tank ready for whatever might happen. If the predictions are correct we could see 17-18 hours of freezing rain and ice pellets. Yikes.... I'm ready for summer! Here's my third and final summer block.

No generator yet. We have been looking into what we need. Once we have that worked out well get our son (an electrician) to get it all set up for us

@crazyhorseladycx we've managed without a generator to this point. We have planned to purchase a generator since we moved to the east coast, but want to get one that will meet our needs without braking the bank. We want it to run the mini split (heat), the freezer and possibly a few lights..

That's a long time to experience such conditions.

So far it's windy and rainy, but in the next hour the temperature is set to begin its drastic drop. The freezing rain is set to begin when we are snug in our beds.

@Morleyhunt Perhaps you need to go on another road trip to escape the bad weather.

We hope that it misses us....but not too optimistic. We've managed to miss most of the weather events this fall and early winter.

I do love all of the bumble bees on your quilt, they are so much cuter then in real life. I'm sorry that you are under such a warning, hopefully you aren't without hydro for too long, although it sounds like you are prepared if so. A And I hope that there is a deck of cards around to help pass the time.

We kept our power (not even a flicker) but we did get snow and the maritime version of freezing rain. A bit different from what we experienced in Ontario.

I really dislike freezing rains, winter seems to be so long. I love your little fence with the strawberries.

@MorleyhuntSummer is not too horrible here, there are only some hot days, if we stay inside it is bearable, always better than ice on the roads.

I'm not a fan of freezing rain. I prefer almost any season to winter.

No heat in winter. Temperature here could go up to 8°C today. Not very cold, but certainly not hot either.

@Morleyhunt That is a lot of time to be without electricity. So the propane tank will keep you warm then. I can understand why you would want summer. You are very talented.

We hope not to lose power at all, but we need to be prepared . Hurricane Dorian only kept our town without power for 24 hours. There were areas that whT a week or more before their electricity was restored.
