Any reading goals for 2020?

It's a new year, which means another goal for the Goodreads reading challenge. My goal last year was 55 books. Unfortunately, I only finished with 42 books. Since I didn't reach my goal last year I am gonna keep the same one for 2020. I've set it at 55 books. Hopefully, this year I will reach it and maybe even surpass it. If not, I hope I get as close to the goal as possible. It's not so much about getting to 55 books as it is about continuously reading books. And the Goodreads reading challenge is helping me do that. This reminds me that I have my first book to finish for 2020. Better get to it as I've been putting it off all day. Any reading goals for 2020?

My only reading goal is to average a book a week. I have finished 3 books so far this year.

Best of luck with your goals! I have no specific goals in mind. But I am an avid reader.

It's okay. As long as you finish them doesn't matter that it took you longer.

@Behindtheguitarbar That's ok. I set the same goal for this year as last year because I didn't reach it this year. Hoping this year I will.

I don't read books now like the way I did when surfing the net is still unknown. There are still a lot of them I cannot store yet because I have not finished reading them.sometimes I flip through the pages then put it aside again.

I'm hoping to read at least 20-25 books this year. I do hope I can read more than that, but we'll have to see. Only time will tell.

@lovebuglena I would imagine so, if this person can read so many books.

That's a good number of books to read in one year. There is someone on this site that reads hundreds of books a year. I don't know how that person is able to do that. Must be a very fast reader and have lots of free time.

How does the Goodreads challenge work? Do you buy 55 books or do you get them from the library or other places? Do you read the books found on Goodreads? I know my books are listed on Goodreads and I've seen the challenge, but I haven't done anything about reading. I don't set reading goals. I have a very hard time reading with my eyes as bad as they are with cataracts. I can only read for so long, and then I need to put the book down.

@lovebuglena Do you review the books you've read? That's always helpful to the author. Good to know how that works.

You set a number of books you want to read in 2020. Then each time you start a book you find it on Goodreads and select Currently Reading. Then when you are done reading it change the status to Read and that book will count towards your reading goal. Keep in mind, if you right away select Read for a book it will not register. You must select Currently Reading first for it to count. What I do is read books from the library though there are certain authors whose books I buy. Doesn't matter as long as the book is in the Goodreads database. Although you can probably enter a book into Goodreads if not found there as I've done that before.

No, I haven't been able to concentrate enough to read a book. I used to be a voracious reader.
