Lately there is a news about Japan minister's paternity leave. Of course he deserves it but on the other side it is not easy when men are under heavy pressure. I wonder how long time will the men have the paternity leave in your side. Actually I am not sure about it today. When our baby was born, I remembered my husband had a week to stay at home to take care of me and our baby.

@japanesesamurai As a woman, I think it is a good step for man to offer some helps for their baby and wife.

I have no idea how long the paternity leave here in Germany. It's a long time ago for me when I gave birth to my son.

Men do not get any paternity leave in the USA. Only the women.

Then it is really not easy. Hopefully parents can do some helps. Usually we also ask our parents' help.

I think I was entitled to five days Paternity leave but I did not take the risk I took two weeks annual leave instead. The entitlement in the UK is ten days which must be taken within 56 days of the birth!

So 10 days leave but actually you had five days leave and then you had 2 weeks extra but it is your annual leave. I can see that it is also not easy for a man to have the Paternity leave in many countries.

In my place we are only given 5 days only. I think it is not common for countries to adopt it and a few countries have been practicing this policy in their own country.

@youless True. There’s not much a father can do for that short a time.

If you asking America is two weeks normally. Average company. Big time can be 3 to 6 months ghetto companies lucky to get any thing at all. America is not what it once was people need to stop looking at us for a better day

Perhaps it is different from Oregon. Every state in USA can have different rules and laws.

There is not an official paternity leave here, most workers obtain a few days, usually five, but there is not yet a law.

@LadyDuck It is not easy for women to do it alone. Having some helps are really good for them. Women could be depressed after labor and especially baby cries and housework etc. It is really not easy for them.

It's about a week here if a company offers it. Not all companies do. But I see why it SHOULD probably be offered...but probably not for more than a week.

If the couples don't have parents to help them, it is really not easy.
