Longest Friendship

How long is your longest friendship (and you can count your spouse if you want)? I went to paint pottery the other day with my friend, Dominique, after we had Thai food at a nearby restaurant. We met at school in the seventh grade. Even when we went to college, and didn't see each other for years, we emailed and stayed in touch.
She lives in Missouri, but comes down about once a month to see her mom, who is getting older. We always try to get together and do something, and I am thankful for our friendship.

I'm still best friends with a Kathy, whom I met in first grade.
To be honest, I am still good friends with many of the girls I grew up with from elementary school, junior high, high school, college, grad school, and even from our travels. My husband jokes that I'm too full in the friends department, but I don't care. I always have room for more besties.
I'm so blessed to make friends easily and remain friends for the long term.
You are very lucky to have such a friend. Many do not. To be honest, my husband has best friends, too, from childhood, and we are all good friends and socialize often.

@AmbiePam She is holding steady. She didn’t have colon cancer. There was a rare growth on her colon, and once removed, sent cancer cells throughout her body. Some attached themselves to other organs. Her treatment is to keep more floating cells from attacking her.

We just walked together this morning and now she left to play tennis. She’s amazing!

It is good to have a friendship like that. My longest friendship is with my best friend. We're not really that close, and we don't have a great deal in common. I think we're best friends just because we've known each other for over 30 years! There were a couple of years when I went to college that we lost touch. I think that was just a matter of not really thinking about it (the internet wasn't big at the time, and there was no social media - even the very earliest version of that sort of thing only came about the year that I left school).
I got back in touch with my friend after college to tell her that I'd had my first child. Luckily, my friend had not moved from her parent's house!
We now meet up once a month, usually for a meal. Sometimes just us, sometimes with partners/my children.

@AmbiePam as someone who has always found it hard to make and maintain friendships, I do try to cherish the ones who make an effort.

My longest friendship is a school friend. We met when we were 12 and are still friendly now at the age of 69. We don't see as much of each other as we both went our different ways but we still keep in touch by phone, birthday cards and Christmas cards.

I have a friend that I met in grade 7 also, before we moved we used to run into each other periodically and went out for coffee together too.
My best friend, Junie, I met in grade 9 Home Economics class. We are still good friends to this day. Her hubby and mine worked together for about 25 years, and we even lived in the same little country village.
You and I are both very lucky to have such good, dear old friends that we've grown up with. Not a lot of people can say that.

Oh that is awesome! I'm happy to know it :-) That sounds like fun, pottery painting. I love pad Thai but that's the only Thai food I know.
Uhm, let's see - my oldest friend I met when we were 3. We're not in touch any more though. I have a pen pal from 20 some years ago, we're not in touch like we used to be though but still in touch. A lot of my current friends I made some 10-11 years ago :-) I'm blessed to know a lot of cool people
