Sushi Date Night

Sushi Date Lunch was great and we've already decided that we want to make some sushi instead of going to a restaurant next time.. The boys (my friend's significant others) aren't fans of sushi, but we are going to order them a pizza or something while us ladies have a Sushi and movie night.
We aren't going to go all out, trying to keep the expense for this on the cheaper side, but we'll have lots of fun anyway.
Do you ever have a boys night or a girls night away from your significant other? Or, if you're single, do you have a boys night or girls night?

Only two people I'd ever do it with. It sort of ends up us girls and then sometimes one of my friend's dads, or the other's mom.. So it's more of a family thing.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Were trying to do a just family thing this next week for he childs birthday. Meaning the kids, other half, his mom and me. Without being rude to he childs mom although he child has made it very clear he wants nothing to do with her

@thislittlepennyearns Well, honestly he child's mom shouldn't be involved anyway.. If she wants to take him out or get him a gift or something, that's fine, but yeah, she shouldn't try to crash ya'll's party.

I usually provide for whoever and I go without often. It is fine and I do not mind. I am so glad it was great Amber.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes it seems we are alike in that way. It is our nature but it would be nice sometimes to have enough for all including us.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, I agree. Those who do not have the money are often the ones that give it freely. Those who do are the ones that protect their money.

I think you and I are very similar. I have done that in the past, or gotten less because I was paying for others who couldn't pay for themselves.

I don't really have enough female friends for that kind of thing! My husband and youngest son (and my eldest if he's there) will have a boys' night occasionally. Especially in recent years, the closest I've really come to a girls' night has been a meal with some of the female relations.
My husband and I do have nights without each other but it's rare. We enjoy each other's company and prefer to go out together. I might go out if he's not well or one will go without the other if we've both been invited and only one of us is able.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Of my real friends, one doesn't go anywhere without her son, the other (my best friend) is still in quite a new relationship and doesn't go anywhere without her boyfriend. Not that I mind either at all but it does make girls' nights unlikely. I'd also rather have a boys' night or a games night!
My husband isn't always able to do things but he doesn't mind if I go without him.

I only have two real friends, but that's fine by me. It will just be us three girls, and possibly one of the girls moms. It won't be just us girls as there will be guys around...
It's sweet that both of you enjoy each other's company. I'm single now, but ideally I'd like that type of relationship.. Comfortable with one another, but able to go out without each other on occasion too. One my friend's husbands goes with her nearly everywhere. So "girl's lunches" tend to be us girls + her husband, but we don't mind.

@pumpkinjam A games night sounds like a lot of fun. My friends and I like to play cards against humanity sometimes, but we rarely, if ever, play it.

@shaggin I keep forgetting that.. sorry.
They did have a roll that I tried and liked. It was just the rice, avocado, cucumber and carrot wrapped in a seaweed wrap.

The last one we had was St. Patrick's Day a few years ago. We are long overdue. I am sure the boys will end up being involved somewhat, but for the most part it will just be us ladies.

Not often! I think I’ve had like 3 in the 10 years we have been together but I enjoy spending time with my husband. I don’t have friends that are girls because I don’t care for girl stuff I prefer a lot of male stuff.

Yeah, I'm not a girly girl so I don't like doing girly girl things all the time. My friends and I are more tomboys than anything, to be honest. I'm single so I just end up being the "tag along" but they don't mind.

@ScribbledAdNauseum some times I’ll do things with my sister in laws but they are all girly and like to talk about guys, and nails stuff.
I’m like can we just please get coffee or dessert and talk about anything else that doesn’t have to deal with dresses, heels, make up or husband trouble.

How fun! My friend had a party once where she just left out ingredients and everyone just wrapped their own sushi in seaweed (saw photos on FB, I wasn't invited
). Hubby and I have never done that . . . our friends aren't like that either anyway - but that sure would be fun!

@ScribbledAdNauseum Anyone want to drink sake with their sushi? I used to drink that stuff at Japanese restaurants but man that stuff is potent (especially since it is heated). That'll be a fun food party!

Ooh cool. I am sure we will do something similar to this, but we'll all pitch in the cost of the foods and maybe drinks.

In a nutshell no but I do meet up with some mixed friends at a restaurant and have a convivial evening with them from time to time. Enjoy your sushi. Can you eat with chop sticks? I can't I have bought some cheat chopsticks to take to Japan with me!

Our "girl's night" usually ends up with the guys in there too. A few years ago we did a St. Paddy's Day thing and the boys went off to do something together and then we all ate dinner together.
I can't eat with chopsticks at all. The restaurants here will give us chopsticks and a fork. I ate mine with the fork.

I love sushi, but the only other time I get it is if I go to the store and get it. I only have these two friends really, and their spouses which I count as friends. I kind of like it that way. Not much of a social person, and have some social anxieties.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have social anxiety so yeah I don't have any real life friends to go out and have sushi with haha And since my mom doesn't like sushi the only way I can get it is if we get lucky and go to an asian buffet for a birthday or something haha

Yeah I once tried a girls night even after i married my husband. of course i asked his permission first if it's okay to spend a night to my friend's house. Good thing, he said okay and pick me up the next day :)

I was once married. My ex mother in law did not believe that we should have sleepovers with friends. She thought that after marriage that sort of thing was improper. If only she saw me now, I spend lots of time at a friend's house with her and her husband.

@CarolDM We haven't had any snow yet, though it gets put in our forecast and then taken away. I know it was 20 degrees this morning, not sure what it was overnight.
If it's going to be this cold, I want it to snow.
