Time to tackle those dirty dishes

I have a whole kitchen counter of dirty dishes, cups, utensils, and pots and pans. Lots of stuff to wash. I've been putting it aside for most of the day. It is time to take care of them. If I wait until after dinner to do it there will be even more dirty stuff to tackle and I don't want to do that. Do you wash the dishes after every meal or do you wait for them to pile up? For me it varies... sometimes I wash everything after a meal, and sometimes I wait till the end of the day or the next morning to wash things.

@lovebuglena I used to leave them pile up but not anymore anyway this place is too small to do that.

That is the best thing to do because there is less to wash each time. Sometimes I have no desire to wash dishes so just rinse them and leave for later. I hate when there is stuff on kitchen counters that should not be there. I hate clutter.

Well I have a dishwasher and it mostly goes in there but pots and pans get washed mostly after dinner. Sometimes depending how I feel I will just wash all the dishes by hand after dinner. I don't make a lot of dirty dishes as there are only two of us in the house.

Not all pots and pans are dishwasher safe from what I heard.

@lovebuglena yea, and they take up to much space in the dishwasher. They are not that hard to do in the sink

I try my best to clean the dishes fast, but once in a while, if I don't feel well , I will them there.

It is our standard to wash the dishes and clean everything after meals. The ants here are terrible. Once there are scraps left it will take only a few minutes for the ants to attack.

I always rinse dishes after eating, regardless if I decide to wash them right away or later.

@lovebuglena that's all right if there are no ants there. If ever we ignore the ants, they will build a nest inside the house because of the food that they get.

Sometimes we get ants in the kitchen and I never leave food out and always wipe the counters and sweep the floor. And yet they come. But then they vanish w/o me doing anything. Though if I see them crawling they get squished.

@LindaOHio Is that like a dish rack? I have a two level thingy that also has a tray underneath to accumulate any dripping water. And I have a hanging thing there for cups and a thing for utensils.

@lovebuglena It's the rubber thing that you put under your dish drainer. I fill up the dish drainer, not the drainboard. Sorry for the confusion.

I just did a small sinkful - but it wasn't too bad. We put dishes in the dishwasher and let it build up til it's full (for a family of 4 it won't take long). The rest I try to clean up as I cook - we don't have a lot of room, so I gotta clean up asap.

I wait til there's enough to do a load in the dishwasher. My mom will sometimes do that and other times do it by hand if there's only a little. Right now it's in between a little and alot. So waiting for dinner dishes then will run the washer while we sleep

I have a dishwasher but it is old. Last time I tried to use it on, stuff where water sometimes accumulates (cups for example) there was some kind of black particles there. After that I have not tried using it since and just hand wash everything.

@Courtlynn Sometimes I actually enjoy washing dishes. Not all the time though. Sometimes that's the last thing I wanna do.
