Can you guess who this is?

We went to Durbar Square in Kathmandu today and into the World Heritage site. Several of the largest and oldest of the buildings in the site were either damaged or destroyed in the 2015 earthquake. There was a lot of restoration work going on and interesting information about the earthquake. I’ll write more about the individual attractions later. We were lucky enough to see the child goddess, the Kumari, who appears at a special window for a few minutes each day. We went to visit the family Vince has got to know but that will need to be a separate post too. So far, we’ve done 8,000 steps the first day, 5,000 the second and another 8,000 today and we still have to go out for dinner so that will add a few more. I thought you might like to see how Vince would look if he had become a ghurka. What do you think? Try to be kind. haha

@JudyEv So he wasn't dressed in that uniform? If not his head fit that hole better than the one just above. It looks to me like he's standing right there.

It is one of those cardboard arrangements where you just put your heads in the holes. Do you remember seeing this one?

You seem to have a good time there in Kathmandu. And Vince looks like a real Gurkha. 2015 earthquake was a disastrous one. It definitely ruined the place.

@arunima25 There seems to be a lot of tourists here but it's hard to tell really. And I'd have no idea if there is more than usual or not.

We discovered that his phone counts the steps and, if it detects that you've gone up in elevation, it converts it to flights of stairs.

You always make me look up a word or two .......... be right back .............. Ok, I'm back. I should have guessed given Vince is holding a bayonet in his right hand but the uniform looks rather odd to me especially the hat. I'm sure anyone native to Nepal would feel the same way about our soldiers. Good shot of Vince. I like his beard.

I should have positioned his head a bit better. There was a real soldier wearing a Ghurka uniform at the entrance to this section and one in modern uniform. It's really good that you look things up rather than moving on by. Good for you.
