I need a new wallet

United States
January 24, 2020 1:32pm CST
I have a wallet phone case. I like to keep my debit card, credit card, ID and one rewards card in this case. There is even a space for cash. I used to be able to tilt the case any which way and the cards would not fall out of their place. However, the past few days I have noticed that it takes nothing at all for these important cards to fall out. I will need to get a new case before too long, or else suffer a chance that my cards will fall out and I not notice it. My case now has an etching that says "do not touch my phone", perhaps my next one will have something similarly etched into the case, or maybe I will just get a pretty pattern. Do you carry your important cards in a wallet, or in a phone case like mine?

My husband just invested in a new wallet, for the exact same reason:) Even pictures would fall out, whenever he opened it up!

Wallets wear out over time, it's better to get a new one than to risk losing those pictures.

@Tina30219 I know! I really need to do, it's probably one of my worst habits. I'll stall on things I need but spend my money on things I don't so easily.

I need to look for one first. I keep putting it off, I don't know why.

I have a wallet. I could use a new one as well, but it's not critical.

Mine isn't either as long as I am careful, but I still might get a new one since this is the only case I have.

I know that there are apps that let you load your loyalty cards onto it and then the cashier simply scans the barcode you pull up on your phone for it. However, most places can look the card up by phone number, atleast down here.

@MarymargII I think those card apps are just too much clutter on a cellphone. I prefer to just give most places my cellphone number.

I don't always like carrying a purse so this wallet phone case comes in handy for me. I have considered a small coin pouch for my cards and cash though.

@CarolDM I carry a medium sized purse now, but I used to not carry one at all. I have several canvas bags I could carry as purses as well.

My vital info like my birth certificate and social security card are in an old wallet for safekeeping. I just need my debt card, ID and credit card at any given time.

@whiteream I hope so, but since I also need an RFID wallet, I may have to just settle with whatever I can find.

@Courtlynn I don't really like bags or purses either, but I'll carry it to the grocery store and I've started carrying it when going out to eat. I need to get one of those bags that are basically a fanny pack but you put it over your shoulder. I forget what they call them, it's not called a shoulder bag I know that.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm always being yelled at by my mom and bf for not carrying my id and health insurance cards on me incase anything happens but *shrugs*. I have two of those pocket things you can stick on the back of your phone/case, but dont trust them and never cared to carry a wallet and dont do bags / purses.

I am the wallet type . . . but I need to get a new purse altogether. I keep some of the important cards that I use often in a zippered area in front of the purse - I know I shouldn't do that.

@much2say I kind of like the ones that look like quiltwork, but I also like the ones that are more bohemian. I like a strap that is longer so that I can double it up if necessary. If I could sew, I'd just make my own.

@rakski Though paying is going digital now. It wouldn't surprise me if eventually your debit card or credit card could be linked to a ring or pendant you wear.

All my cards and money is in my wallet. And I am not a fan of those flip/wallet cases for phones. Don't like talking on the phone when the phone is in it. My mom has that kinda case. I talked on her phone a few times and not for me. I prefer a regular phone case.

24 Jan 20
It took me a bit to get used to. I don't do much talking on the phone but when I do I put it on speaker.

@lovebuglena I mean, it can be rude to talk to people on speaker, but I see nothing wrong with it if your alone or just with family.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Sometimes I talk to my mom on speaker (I have a regular case) and she complains about it and tells me it's rude to talk to people on speaker phone.

The phone cases don't allow for a lot of room. I have one that has two slots for cards but I think they make them with four slots as well. I can't hold much cash money in it either.

It wasn't really a problem for me until I got the debitcard with the contactless pay thing on it, now I need to make sure I get a proper wallet. May not be able to get a phone case with RFID in it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have Apple Pay on my Apple Watch if I really need it and I don't have my wallet. I just always have my phone on me and wouldn't want to have those cards on my person at all times too. I'd rather they stay secure in my wallet.

Definitely not! It would be a lot of hassle to cancel the cards, and get them reissued.
