Spoils from Nepal

On Vince’s last visit to Nepal in 2018, he was given several gifts to bring home to me. One was a hand-knitted jumper which was actually meant for him but fits me better. The other was a Nepalese type cap sent home as a gift to me. I brought them with me on this visit and wore them both when we visited the family who gave them to Vince. I have worn the cap almost every day as the weather here is quite cold.
We go up each morning and have breakfast in the roof garden of our hotel. Our tariff includes breakfast but there is no internal dining area. It’s the rooftop or nothing. I’ve been having porridge which is very warming and Vince mostly has an apple pancake. We’ve both developed a liking for ginger lemon tea with honey and I’ll probably continue making and having it when we get home in a couple of weeks.
The photo shows me in my jumper and cap. Monika is on the right and Neev between us.

You look like the only local in the picture
. I would have liked to see Vince with this patchwork on him
. Alright, it is the intention that counts and peoples had a touching attention for you.
I like lemon ginger tea, it is available in a few Asian shops here, but for the porridge... berk, one needs to have English genes to eat that stuff

We have a photo of Vince in the jumper but it's really a bit short for him. Here he is with Monika and her mother. I have English genes so that's okay. The porridge is warming and sticks to your ribs, as they say, till lunch-time.

Do Monika and Neev speak English? Do most of the people of Nepal speak English? Is it tough to communicate with them?

@JudyEv That’s very interesting. Nepal is under the influence of the Chinese, but the people learn English. In addition to English and Nepalese, do they learn to speak Chinese as well?

@moffittjc I haven't heard of any of them speaking Chinese. The Himilayas divide the two countries. Down the south they'd be more inclined to know some Indian perhaps. But I'm really only guessing.

You took me to my trip years ago. We too used to visit a hotel on the roadside and take our own time looking out It was a memorable experience.
You look so young in this photo.

I enjoyed learning a little about Nepal. That's a wonderful photo! What a colorful jumper. I really like the hat too.
You and your friends have such happy smiles in the pic.
