Recent Whole Foods shopping trip... why pay more?

I went to Whole Foods Market yesterday and decided to use the self-checkout. I don't find it easy. Perhaps I am just not used to it... I wanted to ring up two bear claws (it's a pastry). When I typed in the item in the search it did not come up. I put in the word pastry. A few things came up. I selected the word pastry but what it rang up was more expensive so I called for help. The lady took that item off. She then proceeded to type in the word bear claw. I told her I already tried that and it doesn't exist. So, she typed in the word pastry and selected something from there that also had pastry in the title and it turned out to be $2.50 as was the bear claw. I later found out from looking at the receipt that it was taxed. I do not remember baked pastries (croissants, donuts, turnovers, etc.) being taxed. But then again I probably just never paid attention. Curly parsley was another item I had an issue with. I did not see the code on the label attached to the parsley, so just searched for the product. Turned out there was regular curly parsley and organic. I didn't even know they sell both. I thought it was just the regular one, so selected that. I was charged $2.49. I remember the label on the shelf said $1.49. I didn't call anyone to help me and just finished checking out as I was planning on dealing with it after checkout. Once I was done checking out, I went back to the shelf to confirm if the $1.49 price label was for the curly parsley or for something else. Sometimes, the price label may not be directly under the product. Turned out the price was indeed $1.49 but it was for the organic one. I looked at what I had bought to see if I had gotten organic curly parsley and it was. So, I went to customer service, explained what happened, and got my dollar back. I was puzzled as to why organic cost a dollar less than regular, especially since the $1.49 was not a sale sticker but a regular every day label. But it's good that it cost less because why pay more?

I’ve never used a self checkout in my life. Glad you got that money back.

I like to check out myself. But I hate it when there are issues.

@RebeccasFarm It's just being nervous and having the words come out... but I have no issue about going there to get my money back.

It is not always easy for me to go to customer service and get my refund but I do it. Somehow I muster up the courage to get the words out.

I've seen organic be cheaper before but only because it was on sale. Never in terms of regular price. I was surprised.

I usually always use it at my local supermarket, and at Target or CVS. And it's always easy to use. Not Whole Foods. But like I said it probably takes getting used to. I've only used it twice.
