My aunt got a big surprise. My grandmother was looking through the unclaimed money section of the new paper and lo and behold , what did she find. My aunt's name with 323.00 or so unclaimed money! My aunt called in and sure enough was issued a check for this amount! It pays to read the newspaper. I'm going to now be looking for my name. You never know! Has anyone ever gotten unclaimed money?

My worry would be, if I searched the internet for my name associated with unclaimed money, I might find that I owe somebody money!!

@db20747 And distinctly possible considering how much of my late teens and early twenties are a bit of a blur

I looked at one of those lists recently. Well, it was a list of people who had left large estates and money behind but hadn't bequeathed them to anyone. I looked down the list and saw several names that could be relatives. The biggest problem is that a lot of our family names are very common!

I'd do a little more research and have my relatives call and look into this. You never know

@db20747 As miners and factory workers for hundreds of years, it's unlikely any large estates would have been accrued by my ancestors. There were a lot of names but I could have another look to see if any other details match up.
