Had to pay $5.95 for a glass of cranberry juice at a diner

I went to a diner Saturday night and ordered cranberry juice. I never specified what size I want as I assumed there was only one size. The waitress didn't ask me what size I want either. When I got the bill it said large cranberry juice and I was charged $5.95. That's a lot to charge for cranberry juice, especially since the size of my cup was nowhere near large. And the taste wasn't anything to rave about either. When I looked at the menu I noticed that there were two sizes for cranberry juice: small and large. I was planning on calling the waitress over and asking her about it. It felt awkward though asking her if my cup size was large or small so I let it go. Maybe I should have called her over because it is still bugging me that we had to pay $5.95 for a glass of cranberry juice that wasn't large, especially when I wasn't thrilled with its taste... Hubby of course didn't wanna inquire about it either. I guess he was okay with paying that much for cranberry juice and at a diner of all places. I would have never ordered it had I known it would cost that much.

I understand. Sometimes we regret doing this and i strongly feel these are the moments when the money knows how to find its way out of the pocket

We shouldn't have let this go. Should have inquired about the size of the cup or told her I ordered a small cup but was charged for a large one. However, I have no idea if the cup I got is considered small or large as I've never dined at that place before.

@lovebuglena maybe they gave you the larger one only. Or there could have been a mistake as well. Restaurants do end up making such billing mistakes.

@amitkokiladitya That's the thing. The cup didn't look large to me.

Last week we went to a restaurant for gourmet pizza. I ordered cranberry juice as well. It cost $2.95 I think and was delicious. So to pay almost $6 for this one is ridiculous. If you are gonna charge a lot for something it better be awesome in taste. Had I looked at the menu before I ordered it I'd have told her to give me a small one or not ordered one at all. And maybe she did give me a small one but charged me for a large one. i will never know. Unless I go back there again sometime and order a small juice.

That sounds really expensive, even for a large glass, I think I would have inquired.

@lovebuglena My husband always prefers not to ask, but I think that we should inquire if we feel cheated.

I should have asked her if the cup size she gave me was a large... Felt awkward about doing that.

I've paid even more once or twice and for a small glass but it was an upscale place and I had no idea it would be that much. I just ordered it without looking at the menu first. But at least it tasted delicious so I didn't regret it. Here I did.

It is. Last week we went to a pizza restaurant and I ordered cranberry juice as well. It was much less in price and tasted much better.
