Remembering my mum

Today would have been my mum's 95th birthday. She died 5 years ago on February 16th but I was glad she made her birthday. We always celebrated it and took her presents and cards which she loved opening. She told us we shouldn't spend our money on her but I know she enjoyed it.
Both my parents are gone now but I never forget to wish them a happy birthday when the anniversary comes around. I usually think about them a lot, it's not painful now, in fact the memories make me smile.
Happy birthday mum. Party with the angels.

Aww, how sweet! I'm glad you remember your parents' birthdays. My mom passed away last year a few days before her birthday. Her birthday is in April.
I am very much like you, I like to look back on all my memories with my parents and the fond times we had together!

Yes it doesn't hurt now. My sister still has her ashes in the recepticle the cremation people gave us and she put pearls on it. We talk to her still!

@sprite1950 Both of my parents were cremated. My brother is holding on to both of their ashes. I couldn't believe how heavy the ashes were after my dad was cremated!

@sprite1950 Both of my parents passed away in their mid-70s, so they were getting up there in years. And yes, my dad was a big man. Not fat, he was very tall and muscular.

I like to think that is what it's like in heaven even if I'm not sure if it even exists. I just hope she is somewhere happy.

Yes when we are young we cannot imagine our parents being gone. I still think of mine a lot.
