You might not believe this story on the Internet but as far as I know, it is true. When Calvin Klein came out with Obsession for Men the intent was to attract women not wild animals. The scent first came out 34 years ago and the discovery was made that the fragrance was greatly enjoyed by tigers, lions, and leopards at a zoo in the U.K.
The main ingredient is animal musk known as civetone that is secreted by small cat-like mammals called civets. When the big cats get a good whiff they go absolutely crazy and rub themselves against the source. Studies think that cats like tigers interpret the civetone as a territorial marker and think they’ve got to roll around in it to mark the spot with their own specific scent.
Unfortunately, now the supplies of Obsession for Men are running low at the zoo in Norfolk, England and they're asking for people who still have old bottles of this scent at home to donate it. The big cats would greatly appreciate this at the Banham Zoo even though they have responded favorably to other scents this is a favorite.
What is of interest is that in 2018 India wildlife officials used Obsession to attempt to lure a dangerous tiger out of the jungle.
Who can help the big cats get a real thrill?
As you approach them don’t forget to sing this song
