It's A Silly Way To Thinlk About It

All three of the major lotteries I generally play were won virtually at the same time. Somebody won the Powerball, the MegaMillions, and the Illinois lottery this week. They have all started back over. The Illinois lottery goes back to $2 million and the Powerball and MegaMillions restart at $40 million. Usually on the multi-state lotteries like the Powerball and the MegaMillions I don't start playing again until the jackpots reach $100 million. But time and time I am reminded that that might be a silly way to do it. The Powerball only got to about $60 million shortly after the last big win and it still hit. Somebody got it. I always think if the pot is smaller it's less likely the jackpot will hit, and so I tend not to play—again, until it gets into the $100 million or more range. I ind of do the same with the Illinois Lottery, waiting until it gets to at least $4 million before I start playing again. But people win it no matter what the payout happens to be. Of course because it is all just random numbers. So, it's a silly way to think about it. I will change course now and buy tickets for both the Powerball and the MegaMillions until the next jackpot occurs. You just never know when or where the right combination of numbers is going to pop up.

As you know, I have played the same numbers since 1989. So 3x a week I play $1...The most I've won is $70. :-) Good luck!

Best of luck to you as well. I always play the quick picks. Gosh, it would SO MUCH FUN to win though wouldn't it?

I guess if you don't have anything else to do with your money you can gamble it away like that. I hope your numbers hit.

@just4him lol. Don't we all have this problem? I mean, no one can spend it. It's just piling up. Hell, the way things are going I may need it to wipe my butt with.

lol. I am not sure I would call it gambling away. It's only a measly few bucks a week. I'm loaded. No worries.

Occasionally we buy a ticket in this type of lottery but not very often.

@porwest Yes. Maybe they're all national. I'm not sure.

Do you have multi-province lotteries there?

@JudyEv Seems to me that in a lot of other countries they do tend to be national lotteries. I could be wrong about that. We have both multi-state lotteries as well as individual state lotteries.
