I Replicate Dinner Meals from Restaurants

There are just some meals out that are so easy to replicate at home. This salad is just one of many. I took a photo of the salad hubs and I shared at a restaurant. It was huge! I reimagined this salad to make it my own.I used baby red and green lettuce, diced shrimp, grilled and chopped pancetta, less red pepper and tomatoes, added cucumber, sliced ripe olives, fewer fresh steamed and chilled green beans, sweet onion, grated Parmesan cheese, and a mild vinaigrette. Have you created any recipes from food you’ve had at restaurants?

Oh yes I do, I subtract what I do not like and I add what I like more.

@DianneN This is what my husband says all the time, but it's not very good, because then he prefers to eat at home all the time.

@LadyDuck My husband has always been picky. I don’t cater to him, too often.

Yes, I do that many times. The food that I like in an Italian restaurant, I copied at home but omit the ingredients that I don´t like.

Thanks for letting me know about the photo. It was there when I posted. I tried again. Salads are great in warmer months. Don’t forget, it’s warm here in the winter. lol

We did a lot of that especially during the last down turn or the great recession of 2007-2008 where we decided that we would cut down our spendings on eating out, if there was one thing good that came out of it was discovering that we could copy a lot of them and what's interesting is we could make as much as we can for less, it also cut down cravings for some foods like sushi , " palabok" (a native noodle dish) etc...etc... Naturally there were also failuresand a lot of trial and errors and modifications.

@DianneN sushi is difficult when starting, it takes practice and Japanese patience to roll nori with fillings on those bamboo mats. The first batches my wife made looked worst than oversized spring rolls that spilled out the rice fillings when sliced

I’m glad you were able to copy many! It really does save a lot of Monet, too. The only thing I would never make at home is sushi. Yes, I’ve had quite a few flops myself.

Yes I do that all the time. Especially when prices go up and you get less for the new higher price. My husband says my food is better than what the fast food and restaurants make.
