In Circulation but not of so much Use?

This is our country's smallest denomination of money. Aside from having the smallest in value, it also comes the smallest in size. In photo is the 5 cents coin we have. The coins are in circulation but I think not so much of use.In groceries, prices always come in odd. And usually when you have 5 cents change the cashier will no longer give that to you or either the customer wouldn't accept. That's the case. Here, we have this convenience store that seems never runs of smaller coins. They always give you your change. This is where my smallest denomination of coins came from. I put it in a small jar and keep it piling up.

Just keep it until reaches to certain amount. Groceries will accept that.

@yoalldudes yes. It is still legal tender and they should accept it.

We still have small coins, but they plan to stop them, it costs more to mint them than your value.

@LadyDuck yes, although no announcement yet for that Ms.Anna. Only old designs of bills and coins were demonetize yet to give way the new look money.

That is true they are pretty much ignored even when someone gives you change for that. I remember when I was in the US they give change up to the last cents as much as they can. In our case we do not mind the coins anymore.

You are right on that. I may never ask but I always accept it.

You would be better spending it at that little store.

I do the same with my change. Although here we always get out change and very few people refuse it. It's still money no matter the lower value. People DO tend to toss their pennies into parking lots. I find them everywhere and scoop up every single one I find.

@ZedSmart The only coins I might leave behind are ones I see on the bottom of a urinal. Other than that, they are all pretty much for the taking.
