Seriously, this needs to go in the Guinness Book of World Records! Yesterday John “Sonny” Franzese died. You’ve probably never heard of him unless you watch mob documentaries. He was an underboss in the Colombo crime family. (And, on a musical note, he had an alleged “interest” in the 60s bubblegum label Buddah Records, meaning he allegedly used the label to launder mob money.) You may have heard of his son, Michael Franzese. He’s a pretty rare bird himself, going from being the “yuppie don” to leaving the mob life in favor of his religious beliefs. (And he’s still alive...because, as one person said, while he left the life he never “ratted” on anyone.) So, what did John Franzese do that’s so earth shattering? He was a mobster. And he died. At the age of one hundred and three. Of NATURAL CAUSES. Yeah, that’s definitely a record. One of Buddah Records’ biggest bubblegum hits:
Original Buddah Records #70 Debut 10/19/1968 and peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. For more great music like this, tune into REWOUND Radio found ...
